Sound Performance built turbo S54 E46 M3 puts down an impressive 1070 wheel horsepower on a Mustang dyno with ProEFI standalone

Very nice numbers here from Sound Performance with their turbo E46 M3. Now that Horsepower Freaks is officially dead and people are fighting over what remains the door is open for tuners to take the reigns of the turbo E46 M3 market. Sound Performance appears to be one of those stepping up to fill the void and this is quite a way to do it. How does 1070 wheel horsepower and 830 pound-feet of torque at the wheels on a Mustang dyno sound?

This is definitely one of the stronger E46 M3's out there as although they exist there is just a handful in the four digit wheel horsepower area. Very impressive and much respect.

    Specs:

    1071whp & 831wtq @ 33psi
SP Built 10:1 CR S54 engine
    Precision 7675 CEA .96 A/R
    FSR tubular manifold
    ProEFI Standalone EMS

What type of fuel were they using? Just curious. Whatever the fuel is, very impressive results. Well done SP

I'd love to see it on a dynojet but that's damn nice and strong.

Impressive top end, but a wiener down low. <200whp at 3600 rpms, 230ish @ 4000rpms. Not my cup of tea. Id rather have 550whp by then. Still impressive numbers.

SP was going to do installs for the HPF kits in the midwest at one point. So most likely that is a HPF kit on there...

Graph looked impressive until I saw it started at 3600 rpm. Now it's not so much anymore.

There's going to be a significant low end sacrifice with the turbo size needed to reach these power levels on a 3.2 liter.

This - and who spends time in these RPM areas driving an M3; furthermore, I doubt streetability was what they were shooting for. Click here to enlarge

BMW I6's should have a general similarity. But no N54 sounds like this thing at 8k rpm Click here to enlarge

I wonder why these guys didn't just use the N54/N55 as opposed to that old technological iron block garbage S54. Click here to enlarge

Sorry - had to say it, and of course this is a joke.

i don't have anything to compare a 7675 to haha... but going by the vargas stage 3 graph.... how MUCH bigger than twin GTX28's is it? the n54 makes more power on the big twins all the way to a bit over 5000 rpm before tapering off a lot

then this one shoots off like a rocket between 5-5500 haha

then again, aren't the stage 3's predicted to be able to make power (regardless of an other limiting factor lol) up to the 900 odd range?

Well on paper sure. Not without a low end sacrifice though obviously.

i mean looking at what they make currently (not TERRIBLE low and mid range), they have a much wider band in comparison

The car is making 500 horsepower around 5k RPM. I wouldn't call that terrible midrange. I wouldn't even be driving the car in any lower RPM than this to be honest, unless on the HWY.

I would say more condensed power band not wider. Considering they rev much lower it just appears this way to you. We'll see when the N54 hits these power levels... if it does.
