    How much boost on s54?

Hey lads, just wondering how much boost you can run on a standard bottom end s54? I'm building a drift car and I'm going to be stickin a gt35r on it. Will forge it at some stage but I'd like to divide the cost of the project up and get some seat time in between! All advice welcome!

You can get close to 700 whp on the stock bottom end reliably. Any more than that and you will be asking for trouble.

Run high octane fuel and keep the boost down when you don't need it. So just do your best to preserve it until you build it.

Thanks for the reply. What turbo would you recommend? I'm going to be doing as much custom work as possible to save having to buy a full kit. I have a specialist components Ecu, going to try modify the stock manifold to take turbo+wastegate so all il need then is injectors...

Not going for massive power, 550-600 would be loads but will the engine take the constant limiter bashing that it'll get in drifting?

Youll have to excuse all the questions, I'm brand new to BMWs!

Constant limiter bashing isn't good, you want to avoid riding the limiter.

At 550-600 you will be fine power wise. Not sure what turbo to recommend someone else will have to chime in.

The PSI number isn't the important part, Wheel torque is. The torque number is what breaks things.
