I bought the car last year and the original owner had it painted to match the car. It looked good for a few months then the paint started to chip showing the original aluminum underneath. So I sanded the chips and plastic dipped it matte black but now its chipping underneath the plasti dip again. I think I need a whole new price. If I wraped it I would still have the chiping problem.

I'm going to wrap mine in a week, matt black to match my matte black kidney grills....a new look for my car. I hope it doesn't chip, unless your not gentle as you wash it, I think it should be fine

My factory shadowline trim started peeling and bubbling too. Got it replaced under standard warranty. If that wasn't an option though, I'd probably wrap it in a gloss black.

Vinyl wrap usually works well if installed properly; maybe a bit of adhesive promoter.

The factory shadowline on my last car was not in the best shape when I traded it .. I'm kinda glad the M3 has a matte trim, looks more durable but time will tell I guess.

had a body shop do it but it was expensive.. 70$ a piece. I tried wrapping, but the weather stripping was ruined and wouldn't fit flush with the window. Trim pieces are also very easy to bend.

Vinyl won't hide blemishes and if paint is chipping, you'll see the depressions from the chipped off paint.

You need to remove the blemishes before wrapping.
