    X5 50i with Dinan Stage 2 tune, 13.159 @ 104.16

I took the X5 to Raceway Park today. It ran consistent 13.23s until the first round of eliminations. I ran a 13.159 @ 104.16.

The truck seems to need a little time to build boost. On the last run, I was powerbraking the truck for about 3-5 seconds more.

My best MPH was 104.46. The truck weighed 5190 with me in it. Based on the MPH and weight, it is making roughly 485HP at the wheels.

I know Dinan is not the most agressive tune; but, they definitely meet their claim of 501HP on the Stage 2 tune.

I did not get a chance to make any runs before I got the tune.

I am looking to get a set of downpipes and intercoolers. I am not sure the order in which I will get them; but, I will test each change individually.

The X5 50i needs to get a little love. It seems to be left out of many tuners' plans. (I know that it is because far fewer X5 owners mod their vehicles.)

More aggressive tune and exhaust/downpipe setup and I bet you could have that thing doing mid 12's all day.

I'm not sure who has intercoolers.

Dinan has intercoolers for the X5 and they say that they are close to an intake. They have completed the intake for the F10 5 series, so they say they just need to adapt and test it for the X5. Hopefully, that will happen soon.

I'll post all my results here. I am not a Dyno guy; but, I will post time slips and HP estimates based on weight and MPH.

I really think dynos would help a lot. I'm a 1/4 mile guy as well but it is just part of the picture. Due to the varying conditions you will encounter on different days possibly even months apart hard to always get data as consistent as a dynojet.

Good to know about the intercoolers though. Also regarding the intake. Seems Dinan will have those parts before anyone else.

I am not against dynos. I know they are a great tuning tool. It is just real life, I have a wife and 2 boys 5 and 6. If the choice is a day at the track or a day on the dyno, the track will win. Click here to enlarge

We installed some of our downpipes on a dinan s2 car with upgraded dinan intercoolers. It gained an additional 30 whp.

Not to rain in your parade, but I have an X5 n63 and f10 n63. They both dyno'd the same.

On a mustang dyno 386 tq / 460 tq. This dyno is routinely 5-10% under other local dynos.

    The X5 has run a best of 13.18. @ 112 and the F10 550 ix a 12.47 @ 110.

The tq number is what is really impressive.

500 crank is at best 400 awhp - 20% parasitic drag and dyno drag is probably a gimme when looking at the diffs on the x5.

I tried posting the dyno graphs to no avail. Shoot me your email and I'll send you the graphs.

30whp in a 5300+ lb SAV with driver may get you a tenth

I've ordered the EFI-Logic downpipes, they should be here in a few days. I hope to install them the weekend of the 18th. I promised the wife no car/motorcycle stuff on Mothers day weekend.

The pipes and exhaust make a nice benefit. Why not the AA tune to go with this though?

I must say, I am a bit surprised that my little thread got posts from Active Autowerke and Renntech, two companies that I have a lot of respect for.

Guys, please keep pushing the limits and learning. I appreciate all the work you are doing. And if you need a X5 50i for development, keep me in mind. Click here to enlarge
