Jaguar F-Type vs 991 Carrera Cab

Rather than the somewhat cheeky comparison videos we see from 5th Gear, here Tiff Needell puts the new Jag up against the non-S 911 Carrera Cabriolet in a same driver, legitimately timed comparo. The Jag has a manu-matic, while the 911 makes due with the 7-speed manual. The Jag with a supercharged V6 has ~30hp more than the Porsche, but also has 165kg more weight to haul around.

Result: 1:23.9 for the 911 versus 1:27.2 for the Jag. I wonder how much the margin would increase had the Porsche been equipped with the PDK.

Went for a ride in the supercharged V8 F-Type today. Love the car, it's awesome. But that is a HUGE laptime difference damn...

I'd be surprised if anyone seriously cross-shops these two cars. An E-type maybe, but the F is more GT than even the 991 has become.

The F is pretty nice and definitely in the 911's range. I checked one out last night, awesome.
