Sure, everyone can use it. But remember the scare tactics Shiv tried with Cobb being able to be detected via rev limits and such? I can see something similar.

"You can use any other free flash, but my $XXX flash is better because it won't..." and then the kiddies eat it up, just like they are doing, now.

I just find it odd that his first thread started is this one and he jointed e90post in April. I am curious to see the reveal on the 4th. I guess we will find out how much shiv is involved.

Probably too a degree that makes everyone uncomfortable. Oh well, he weaseled his way in as only he can.

Lol. Better sell fast. Something tells me resale values are going to drop a little. I think its sweet that there's going to be another portable flashing system in the market. Don't get why people are getting so upset about this. There are two piggybacks in the market, now there's going to be two ways to flash your ECU from home. Open source will be hopefully be cheaper and definitely more flexible. What's not to like? Who gives a flying f*** whose involved as long as it serves our needs right?

I don't think anyone is getting upset. I think some people take issue with this "open source" project not being completely open source. Unless you are able to get the source code for the project, it is not open source. Everyone will know more when a formal announcement comes out.

His tune is a procede +secret. So clearly hes involved. I hope this turns out to be open, allowing non proprietary cables for functions that dont require more.

I don't know enough about it yet. But at the very least will be happy to publish what maps and values we change so open sorcerers (intentionally misspelled) can build their own back end flash.

my hunch is that he'll enable flashing from the procede for a nominal fee, otherwise you can buy the separate vin locked device. this would entice people to purchase the procede to have an "all in one" solution. attack both the cobb and jb4 market at the same time.

who wants to play over and under for the cost of the "device"? I bet it'll be right around $349

    just a hunch...

or it could just be that you need to divorce the unit from your vehicle like the COBB. prevent you from flashing your friends' cars for free. i highly doubt he'll allow the device to be used freely on multiple vehicles, although that would be nice.
