Talking COBB: I'm a kid in a candy store

Recieved my COBB unit today. So exited to flash my car tommorow morning and see how I like flash tuning! I am coming from a JB4 G4/G5 ISO, and I've been stock for 3 weeks. Not having the most fun on stock boost Click here to enlarge

I will let you guys know my thoughts for sure. I'm FBO so I will be using S2+A 93. Future plans are protuning with a 93 octane map using PTF or EFIlogics. In the meantime I will be messing around with ATR and get a feel for how the COBB operates with regard to load targeting and whatnot. I am really looking foward to logging 6cyl timing without using a laptop, that's one of the biggest drawbacks to using the JB4 in my opinion.

Needless to say i'm exited. Click here to enlarge

You won't be disappointed. I'd just recommend starting with the Sport Maps & make sure the car is running happy at that level. I remember even when I used the Aggressive Maps on 93 octane, I sometimes got some rough timing corrections (a couple gallons of E85 or 100 octane always cleared it up).

Good to know. I will flash Sport instead and log.

Keep us posted. I've heard really good things about the COBB flash and I'm a little tempted to buy one... Funny part is, they have a shop just a few miles from my house. LOL

Right on Man! When/If you go Pro Tune or eTune, I will say PTF are very great to work with. I just sent Dzenno some Logs months after we were done with the eTune, just so he could monitor to see if the car was still happy and to check on my LPFP. He was happy to do so.

    oh yeah, check this out

Thats awesome! I actually have a cell phone mount that I use for nav on my phone I can use. What do you do with the cable? Route it anywhere or is it just plugged in basically?

From the OBDII, the cable goes up over the steering wheel and coils in front of the shifter. Sometimes I put it on the left AC vent or the small window defrost vent and coil the cable in the door storage.

You finally received it hehe. Congrats dude!

I usually keep the cable plugged and routed under the mat for easy access whenever I need my AP. that and a smartphone holder and you should be all set.

Let me know if you have any issues with the tune, or need help with ATR.

Ok I tried Stage2+Sport. Wow! Car feels great! The Alpina flash also makes the car feel really connected. Overall improvement compared to the JB4 in my opinion, and I have been running that for almost a year.

Yes. That's the plan this weekend. I'm assuming on Sport mapping with Shell 93 and Helix IC I shouldn't have any timing pulled. If that's the case I will flash the Agressive mapping.

Another convert!!! Welcome to the Flash Side, think you'll really enjoy how easy it is to take data with the AP. Just make sure you download the AP manager to your computer & update the AP when you get a chance (drives me nuts when I take logs & I have like 10 updates)
