If HPF has seen the walls cracked, then why would this be pointless? Stronger material with a thicker wall sounds better to me when approaching 40psi...

This is where the BULLET PROOF part comes in...

When buying a s500 why do you get the bulletproof window option?

Same thing here. The motor when fine tuned properly should be able to reach 1000hp very easily. But with such high power and not a lot of room left for error, u might as well make it bullitproof just in case the tune pulls out a gun and shoots.

He is saying it might not of cracked from a weak block.

And you are saying it safer to have the sleeves anyway.

    Right?

Either way, I wouldn't mind having this block in my hands. (Well, on an engine stand) Click here to enlarge

I have no idea what you just said, but I'm sure it is witty considering the small font size. I keep reading this aloud and laughing.

Anybody know why HPF dropped the M5 turbo kit? Besides there not being that many M5's. It would have been nice too see some turbo'd BMW V8's.

Just could not justify the development cost, not enough interest.

Everyone says they want it but when it comes time to actually put your money down...

They are retooling the Stage 4 a bit. They weren't willing to sell them unless they had a stronger block. Now that they will have a stronger block they will be building more Stage 4's.

Just because they are building a block and raising the price doesnt mean there will be 20 more customers at their door.

I think that whoever was considering a 40k dolla stg 4 kit, was already subcontiously sure that hpf would take care of anything if the block gave way.

    or do you differ?

To be honest, the only reason I didn't buy an E46 M3 to mod is because of the tuning hassle and ridiculous turbo kit pricing, and the fact that there isn't much on the market. If they start pushing out GT3076 and GT35r kits that make 400-500hp on 93pump for $6,000- $8,000 then I could see them making a LOT more sales.

They will need more than word-of-mouth marketing though.

Right now they seem to be trying to pay off the cost developing the current kits, and don't have enough demand or time to start cheaper/high volume kits.

I want to see HPF grow even further and succeed in the long term, but it would be very beneficial to people like us for some other companies to compete with HPF in that market. $13,000 for Stage 1 is a bit on the high side. My current Z build has less $3000 than the HPF stage 1 price in it INCLUDING the car, and it is running twin BB/water-cooled GT2560s, nice cast endtank intercoolers, aftermarket hi-volume fuel rail, aftermarket injectors, separate intake to each turbo, all metal charge piping, aftermarket exhaust and manifolds, two SSQVs, aftermarket oil cooler, aftermarket radiator and the eprom chip was $300.

I have other mods but all of those engine related mods can be purchased together for around $8,000 and will put you in the 10's with race gas and some good tires on a manual tranny.

HPF needs to make e46 M3's APPETIZING and sales will go up. Maybe another company will take up the task. Or maybe I'm just spewing a bunch of nonsense.

No one said they are going to get 20 more customers at the door. Did you listen to the interview where HPF discusses retooling their strage 4 and making it an even 1000 whp?
