    Corrosion. Appears to be surface finish corrosion. Not a big deal.

    Is this normal though. I have 55k. If it's corrosion why is it all built up on the connecting points?
    I thought it might of been from the E85 I used last yr. Anyone else with similar looking lines?

    Everything degrades. Not a big deal. Take a small sharp pointy object and gently run it over the areas and tell me if you can feel a difference in the surface smoothness.

    This appears to be salt corrosion. I do not have any of this, but I do not drive my car in the winter. My engine bay looks pristine because of that and I have a 2008 model.

    I hardly drive when there's salt out but I have driven a few days in the past 4 years in snow days and after. I just don't see that built up anywhere else is visible.

    Its the brazing from joining the fittings to the rail. All of them have it .

    Then the salt theory is out the door. Anyone else got some input on this.

    I tried. It doesn't wipe off. I took some it off by scrapping it with a blade.

    It looks like it's chromed brass, and the chrome is chipping/wearing off.

    What part, exactly, of the bite-type connector barrel body was brazed?

    I could see your point if it were only on joints, but it is not.

    Well i guess you are just lucky then. 95% of the cars Ive seen have it. I would assume that the rail is not directly brazed, but after any welding is done it could be covered in brass solder to keep the welds clean from contamination?
