E60 535i Sport Automatic Transmission Flash

@skysurfer and I flashed his 535i which is SAT shifter retrofitted to the Sport Automatic Transmission flash using Assembly Number 7601458.

At first I thought maybe we could try the Alpina flash, but after checking out his UIF information and looking at his current assembly number, I decided not to because his ECU type is GKE215. So the only options were standard transmission or sport automatic transmission. So we rolled the dice and flashed it to the Sport A/T because he was alreayd on the lastest standard transmissions flash and sure enough it works and works very well. D is still just D, but SD is now S1-6. According to Skysurfer, shifts are much smoother in D, and quicker in Sport or Manual. Rev matching is also better.

So Iíll leave it at that and Iíll let Skysurfer chime in and give you the 411 because he knows his car and he can tell you first hand the flash made.

If anyone needs any assistance with setting this up, please let me know.

First of all ( and there's many ), Wedge is ONE who knows his stuff and if you have any concerns, he will make you feel at ease

    Wedge, thank you

    OK, enough xoxo

I installed the SAT retrofitted on my 2008 535i over 2 years ago and the only thing that worked when you pressed the sport button is the steering stiffened
Now, I know, the car feels like it hugs the road, like it lowers a tad when pushing it. ( maybe placebo, but I can tell the difference )

Drive mode shows the same " D " - smoother than before

DS mode is now " S1 - 6 " - shifts are WAY smoother and stronger

    WOW !!

I don't know how the Alpina feels ( maybe one day ), but this is a definite MUST have if you SAT retrofitted your car ( or not )

Wedge, again, thank you ( Donation sent )

@Wedge1967, do you think this flash would work without the paddles and SAT sport button retrofitted?

Although paddles work with this flash because it was the default for the M-Sport 535i, it will work without as well. If you need help, just let me know.

This is great news and excellent work Wedge1967!! Click here to enlarge

I performed the SAT conversion on my 08 535i about a year ago but never knew how to get the proper flash to take full advantage of the SAT.

I'd really like to give this a try!!

The trans is the same, just different shifter module, shifter, steering wheel paddles (which arent required) and a "Sport" button - and of course the software.

Taken from my link above to the SAT retrofit DIY ~

    Summary:

2008 and up model E60s use an electronic type shifter that can be easily unplugged and replaced with a new one. If you replace your standard automatic shifter with the optional Sport Automatic version you won't regret it. The electronic module that provides all the cool upgraded features is integral to the shifter part that you will replace.

The full upgrade to SAT includes adding thepaddle shifters - which requires the paddles, a new steering wheel, and some wireing. If you are not interested in the paddles, you can get all the functionality of the SAT for a whole lot less money and work.

I paid about $600 for all the parts.

Part Number: 61319204093 SHIFT BOX, GEAR SELE $251.38

Part Number: 61319208271 SELECTOR LEVER HANDL $149.55

Part Number: 61319142869 SPORT SWITCH $55.21

Part Number: 51166960879 COVER, LEVER $132.17

So it looks like the module, sport button, and sport shifter are required, the steering wheel and paddles are not required.

Hmm I would do it in a heart beat for $600 if I had a 5 series. I guess SAT retrofit coding would also be required afterwards...
