You can also buy uncut lowers for AR's and buy a drill press and drill out the trigger assembly and such. This 3d printing technology is pretty cool though and I do agree that within a decade everyone will have one in their homes.

Just to clarify a few points, it is legal to build for yourself any weapon that you can legally own. You cannot build a full-auto weapon, artillery piece or explosive (see FPSRussia). You cannot ever sell or give the homebuilt item away.

On a pistol or rifle, the part containing the fire control system (trigger and associated parts) is considered "the gun". The barrel, slide, sights, springs and parts are merely accessory parts. That is the reason that you can buy an AR upper without any restriction, just as you can buy a pistol barrel, slide, magazine or internal parts. None of these items have serial numbers and are not considered "a gun", only the piece with the serial number is "a gun".

I served my country and I have the right to protect myself, my family, and my friends. Gun control is out of control and a direct violation of everyones right to bear arms. Guns don't kill people, people kill people. Putting limitations on law abiding citizens is only an invitation for those who break the law to take advantage of those who can no longer protect themselves. I also think it's a violation of my privacy for the government to keeping tabs on how many guns I own. It's tragic that we have mass shootings, but I don't blame this on the gun as I grew up with a gun in my hands. I blame gun violence on the lack education toward gun safety and the desensitization toward violence in our youth today. I also blame our media who now nationally publishes stories about gun violence making it a median for those looking for attention a platform to stand on. Some of you might not agree with me, but at the end of the day if you take aware our rights what do we have?

+1 ... I can be trusted to carry an M16, M4, M249, M240B & M9 for my country in defense of my country, but NYS and other draconic states don't trust those same soldiers to own one of those weapons for personal defense or recreation shooting. F*cked up if you ask me (granted I probably don't need a M249 or 240B for home defense).
As you stated guns don't kill people, people do. I'm in favor of stricter measures to ensure those who don't deserve to have guns in their hands don't get one, but don't take away that right or make it harder for those who are responsible. And all these rules and bans do is make it harder for those who are responsible for acquiring these sorts of weapons, this doesn't stop criminals and crazy's from getting the weapons. That's why there is a 'black market' for those who don't care about the rules and regulations...
