Question Planning my 1st 1/4 mile run in May

Me and a couple of guys at work are planning on a run at Santa Pod in May. Now they have been many times and have built there own strip cars, here's one of them

They will however be running there road cars on this occasion [impreza wrx and evo 6] so i thought i would tag along.

Any tips or pointers so that i dont get to badly embarrased? I have read about this brake boost thing but have no idea what it is.

My car is a AT if that matters.

    Traction Control off
    M mode, 2nd gear
Hold the brakes and bring the RPM's up to about 2,000
on the 3rd yellow, release the brakes and hit the gas
    shift at 6,200 RPM
    hold on

Don't forget a helmet, and lift if you think you may break into 10's.

I don't drive an automatic so forgive me if this is wrong, but I think you have to be careful not to hit the kickdown switch when you hit the gas or the car will shift back into first ruining your launch.

what jdb said is true, theres a DIY on n54tech for putting a kickdown blocker under your pedal. You still get 100% throttle when the pedal is pressed down, but it stops it from kicking down.
