2013 335i performance upgrade package? Can someone put together a full bolt on list please?

    Hello,
I am buying a 2013 335i with auto trans. I plan to upgrade ASAP and I want to order parts now. I plan to do all installs myself. I want to keep parts at under $3500 to $4000. Has anyone priced out and researched a complete kit yet? I want to do all I can with stock turbos. So far looks like I need the following:
    1) FMIC- Cobb $950. Who else makes them? Whice one is best bang for the buck?
    2) Down Pipe- Burger has one for $399. Which one is best?
    3) Tune- Cobb $895. Juice Box? Others? Which is best?
    4) Meth- $400. Which kit is best and should I spend more to get better kit?
    5) Exhaust? Does it help? $895?
I want most RWHP I can get from stock turbos.Click here to enlargeDoes anyone have a complete kit I can buy? What other little add ons do I need? Oil catch can? Blow off valve? Muffler delete kit? I did not want to spend the money on exhaust unless it real helps?
Do I need to do anything to the trans?
I was planning on running BFG drag radials for the street.Click here to enlarge

Thank you all in advance for your help,

It looks like you are buying an N55...

Skip the intake; they are cool to look at on that motor but that is it.
Yes, get a downpipe and intercooler.
    Get Jb4 + Meth...
Cobb only has the lower N55 stages which are not all that powerful.

    This is all you need.

Trust me on all of this...

    I would get:

    JB4 ISO
    Helix FMIC
    BMS Downpipe

That's all you really need. If you like a loud exhaust then you can get a catback, and if you want more power get a meth kit.

Well since you said 2013 335i, unless you're a 335is be prepared to be disappointed. If you're a non-IS, then you're 2013 335i is the F30 chassis. To my knowledge, here is the combination of parts that will yield the highest HP:
    • Burger Tuning N55 JB4 Stage 2
    • Evolution Racewerks F30 N55 Catless Downpipe
    • K&N Drop-In Filter (the OEM intake is very well designed, so waste mod money on a full intake)

Sadly, that's it. Last I checked, Helix had found an F30 to take measurements for their stepped FMIC (the original stepped FMIC, before Wagner & COBB). Once the F3x coupe is released & sales increase, you'll see a lot more development take place, specifically higher HP tunes & bolt-on parts. Since the N55 is the same motor found in the last gen (E8x) 1-Series & (E9x) 3-Series, you should also keep your eyes open for Vargas Turbos to release an N55 turbo upgrade.

HOWEVER, if you have an E9x 335 with either an N55 or N54 motor, there's def a lot more potential & mods you can invest in. Provide some more details on your car so you can get more accurate feedback.

Unless he's a 335is, there are no FMICs being sold for the F3x 335.

He didn't specify wether it's a sedan or coupe. If it's a coupe it could be the E92 335i N55

Valid -- OP, IF you happen to be an E9x 335i (whether N54 or N55 motor), I would recommend COBB. It is the best, mainstream tune IMO. Since COBB is a flash, it is is capable of adjusting fueling & VANOS timing (every major tune can adjust CPS timing, boost & adjust an AFR target, but the piggys cannot adjust those two specific variables which will become necessary to achieve max power on any tune), in addition to being easy to data log & read fault codes with. If you plan on using a Meth system (regardless which motor), look into Aquamist HFS-4 Meth System with a trunk mounted meth tank.

The N54's currently have ATR/ATP available for custom tuning & the N55s will get that feature soon once COBB releases Shelf Tunes for every stage.

I was looking at the 335i Sedan. i might go look at the 335is coupe tomarrow to compare. I hhave 2 kids that will be riding in car. they are 14 and 10. So I need back seat room. So no front mount on the 4 doors. Sucks.

The 335is Coupe still uses the N54 motor, which is what all the high HP cars are running (more R&D time, so there's a ton of tune, bolt-on & aftermarket turbo options). The N55s are tapping out just under 400 WHP because the turbo, and if you go with an 2013 sedan (the F30) you're gonna be really limited to your mods & tune options.

I am ok with 391whp for now. Then when fmic is available I can add it. What parts would you buy now. I plan to get car on Friday. I want to order and get shipped today. Please list best combination of parts and tune for this car. 2013 335i sedan with N55 motor.
Also what about the 8 speed trans. Will hold the 390whp ok?

This car won't even make 350 WHP... or at least I haven't seen one in an F30.

OP, I'm sorry -- Not even Burger Tuning offers a tune for the F30 335s. You could bolt-on the catless DP and get some HP, but you'll be driving around with a CEL on & won't be maximizing your potential gains

OK, now I am thinking twice about the 335I. What about the new 2013 535i? What motor is in it and is it mod friendly? I am driving the Coupe 335is today and if the 535i is good I might look at it.

I'm gonna recommend you do a little more research on your own, but here we go:

2013 535 is also an N55 motor, but it's also hasn't gotten any tuning love. The 550i on the other hand has gotten a lot of attention since it's packing the N63 motor (twin turbo, V8), which is nearly the same motor as the S63 Tu with minor differences (adjusted compression ratio, different boost, different turbos & manifold).

Honestly if you want to mod heavily immediately, your two options are going to be an E90 335 (N54 or N55) or the F10 550. Eventually I'm sure the F3x 335 will get some attention from the tuners, but there's no specific timeframe on when you'll see big power numbers.

OK, I called COBB today in Austin, TX. They say with in the next few months they will have a tune ad FMIC for the F30 N55 cars. How are you other tunes doing with the F30 N55 335i tunes? Please update on ETA for a finished product.

BMS has had a Stage 1 tune for awhile and now have Stage 2 in beta test with a lot of people using it actually. I personally have the Stage 1 installed in my F30 335i.

Stage 2 is putting down 355whp/449wtq with a down pipe on map 2.

You have a pretty good list there but we could help you a whole lot more if you knew what car you were getting.

F30 is getting 369whp with BMS stage 2 tune on E85 with downpipe only. Guy just ran 12.3 on the stage 2 beta.

I am new so I am not going to post another fourms link. It's on N54 Tech. Terry got 369rwhp with E85 and the user is also on F30 Post "Get A Gun" ran a 12.3. It's still early but the F30 is proving itself when the N55 single turbo upgrades are out things will get interesting.
