You could also buy E98 from any Ignite Racing Fuel vendor (http://www.igniteracingfuel.com/E-98.html). Not sure the pricing, but I'd assume they'd sell it in the industry standard sizes -- 5 Gal Pail, 55 Gal Drum

Terry which FTW e85 were you using?

Speedfactory Racing is proud to offer FTW Racing Fuels.

Why FTW? The biggest breakthrough in racing fuel technology in nearly half a century. FTW blends have been under research and development for the past several years. It's finally being released to the public and now is your chance to see what will be Fueling the World of racing in the near future.

    FTW Orange

FTW Orange is a chemically formulated Ethanol based racing fuel that is oxygenated and holds an octane rating of 116, and is designed mainly for naturally aspirated racing engines under 15.5:1. This fuel has been seen to show gains over competitive racing fuels and ethanols alike to the excess of 3-5%! Yes, that is 3-5% gains just from a fuel switch.

    FTW Purple

FTW Purple is a heavily oxygenated pure racing bred E85. It is designed for high output forced induction applications. The purple has an octane rating of 120+, yes 120, and will outperform competitors by 5-7%.

    FTW Clear

Clear is the baddest racing ethanol hands down. If you don't have any class rules and can run higher levels of ethanol, this is the fuel for you. Not much more can be said about this fuel, so just give it a try for yourself and be prepared to be blown away.

If the E85-R is as good as the FTWE85 then that would be great. Someone should do a similar test like I did with it. Just be sure to keep boost & timing fixed (e.g. you can't do this test with a flash based boost control scheme).
Well someone can order a 5 gal at $62.90 of E85-R.
Shipping comes from VA, so shipping rate to NY is $52 & $75 to CA. I'll do it but I'm not setup for it.

Save your money & buy E85 from a VP Racing, Rockett Fuel or Ignite Racing. All have E85 Race formulas & are probably going to be a lot easier to get your hands on through a local speed shop

    VP Racing Vendors: http://www.vpracingfuels.com/vp-racing-dealers.html
    Rockett Brand Racing Fuel: http://www.rockettbrand.com/dealernetwork/network.html
    Ignite Racing Fuel: http://www.igniteracingfuel.com/Distributors.html

If anybody wants to volunteer, it might be a better test to compare each of these respective brands "normal" E85 to see which is the best quality. Still hard to swallow FTW's cost/gal. Chances are I'll go with Rockett or Ignite when the weather gets a little more favorable since there's two local shops that carry Rockett & Ignite. I've called VAC a few times (@Mike@VAC ) and haven't successfully spoken to anyone that knows what I'm talking about when I ask for pricing & availability of the VP Racing E85 (branded as C85)

Much cheaper. Would be worth testing. Does FTW publish the "oxygenation" rate of their purple fuel? That might be a good metric to compare with.

    Hey guys,

So I read a bit on this oxygenated E85 stuff being offered for $32/gallon and just had to try some for myself. Turns out they have a dealer in Upton, CA so I sent Jeff@BMS on a wild goose chase through LA traffic to grab a few cans for testing.

As soon as he got back I couldn't wait to hit the dyno to evaluate it. http://www.n54tech.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif

Since I know little about the fuel I decided to run a stable slightly conservative tune on the car so I'd have a good baseline. That wound up producing repeatable 480rw. I then added in 2 gallons of this magic fuel to around 4 gallons of the E50 I was running. Let the car idle a bit and did an adaption run. Then two normal runs. Low and behold, the crap actually worked. Power went up a consistent 10rw. On only a small mix of it! This stuff is a bit like nitrous in a can! http://www.n54tech.com/forums/images...popcornad4.gif

Needless to say I would not be at all be surprised to see someone pickup 30rw running a 100% mix of this stuff. But at $150 per 5 gallon can, definitely not good on the wallet. http://www.n54tech.com/forums/images/smilies/lol.gif
Wow I did not expect you to test this so quickly.

Terry, why not try 100% of the stuff and see the result? Seems like it works as advertised.

22 psi E85 and 19 psi FTW purple (no more boost to needing larger injectors) and still the purple makes more power:

    Interesting:

FTW Orange stuff is for NA carsClick here to enlarge, compressions as high as 15:1

FTW Purple is a heavily oxygenated pure racing bred E85. Has an octane rating of 120+ as well. Its pretty much good for anything making big HP, but cant run methanol based fuelClick here to enlarge due to class rules/restrictions.

FTW Clear is straight up hardcore racing fuel. If you need this stuff you are making some serious power. The purple runs in 1200hp 4cyls, so this is naturally the next step if you have managed to build a 1200+hp 4 banger lol.

The Purple in my findings needed another 20-25% fuel over my e85 mapping. With e98 I usually need around 15%. Power gains to be had? From switching to FTW over normal e98 should be around 5-6% across the board. On a car like mine were I have exhausted all power output on the setup, it is well worth seeing the 40-50whp gains. That translates to another 2-3mph at the strip to me.

I would say that 95% of the people will be fine with the purple. I would put clear in those 1500-1600hp 2jz/vr motors or some crazy high compression forced induction v8. You will need A L O T of fuel to run that stuff, I would guess mechanical fuel pumpClick here to enlarge and a base of 100psi since the IDs will move some serious fuel flow at high pressure.

Update on my stuff, I made 660 by adding a reg and bumping up the base to 70psi. Still out of fuel but the graph got smoother to 5500rpm with the extra fuel.
Tony @ T1 hooked me up big time as he usually does and I am receiving my id2000s and complete rail/fuel setup from them today. I was going to toss in some smaller injectors and go play, but I figured with the up coming winter mods I will need the fuel systemClick here to enlarge anyway Click here to enlarge

I really would like to see this.

We may also need to re-think the N55 test as my cousin flaked on me. I am realizing I can't count on anyone buy myself, people suck.
