How to crash into a truck

If you see you're gonna hit the back of a truck, make sure you're hitting it right in the middle.

That's unfortunate because I would think people would instinctual try to avoid a collision, which would make a full overlap crash unlikely. Even if you stand on your brakes, ABS will still allow you some steering control.

You WILL swerve left, even if you have a passenger. When facing such an extreme life-menacing situation, your survival instincts will 99,9 % prevail over rational thoughts. Therefore the passenger seat is often considered to be the most dangerous place in a car.

There must be something that can be done to truck bumpers to reduce the danger. Maybe lower them?
