Heads up on new 6at 60-130 record

    "Hi guys,
We've been quietly working on the 6AT single turbo application for the last few months and today CupertinoSteve finally got a chance to run some VBOX times in his Laguna Blue e90 daily driver/kid hauler. Just got the results via text. He said he'll post vbox graphs/video/logs tomorrow when he gets a chance.

    Car Details:
    2008 E90
Vishnu/FFTEC Single Turbo 58mm option (not the 62mm)
    Full catless
    FMIC
    Vishnu PWM Meth
    Vishnu Procede Rev3
    Vishnu PWM Meth system
    Koni FSD shocks
    MT DRs
Passenger seat removed (rear seats still in with baby seats).
STOCK 6at trans with Alpina flash

All the runs were done with a slope between -.97 and -1.5%.
Best of the night was a 6.881s. Backed up twice. Slowest run was a 7.112s. He did nearly 8 runs in all before running out of gas Click here to enlarge

The only N54 powered car that did quicker was my 6MT running the bigger 62mm turbo with NLS. The car definitely has some more in it. Hopefully we can see mid 6s within the next couple of weeks.

    Cheers,
    shiv"
Just figured I'd share. This is all that's posted so far. Can't wait for Cupertinosteve to chime in with logs, graphs and video!

Is it feasible to just swap out the valvebody/mechatronics to get this? Cost of parts a bid concern? I don't think it's too much in labor.

What the flash did is allow the tranny to shift 'x-more' torque (at redline or close to it) without throwing codes/failing. Correct me if I'm wrong.

I believe the question was brought up in that thread: can you shift from 4th to 5th?, and shiv dodged it so far.

Getting used parts for a good price is not the problem. But my shop can't program the TCU. And dealers won't put in used parts...

But with a bit of luck forum member @DavidV can help me out Click here to enlarge I just NEED this on the racetrack.

The time is definitely good... there is no doubt about that. I am just questioning how reliable/reproducable this time is and if there are truly no other issues with this car and it can really shift...

He said they made 8 runs all under 7.1, seems like reliable power to me. As reliable as you can get when pushing double the stock HP anyway.

Took some time but glad to see at least a few numbers backing up the singles. Hopefully there's more coming in track season.

no doubt about that... and the 4-5 shift? and has anyone done a pull to hit the speed limiter? if it does it reliably, then we finally have a solid turbo kit

Guy had on drag radials though. That has been known to affect times a tad.

well I am sure as there had to be traction issues with that much power to the ground, so properly heated DRs would help times for sure

The biggest problem with automatics is that on normal 25.5" tires the car shifts from 4->5 @ 128-129mph. Which basically craps your 60-130 time. So the tires are probably in part for gearing. I've been considering throwing on my slightly taller hoosier tires to see if that lets it get up to 130mph before the shift. But have been too busy / lazy to do so... Click here to enlarge

net/net it's a details game. A single turbo geared to do 130-131mph at the top of 4th is well positioned to dominate 60-130 times as they only need one shift and spend the entire time in their otherwise narrow power band. With say RBs you either need 2 shifts (which costs a few ths) or taller tires to ride out 4th, but in doing so are outside your power band.
