@marv85 Being as map1 seems to be behaving, do you think the extra boost pressure on map5 is leaving the wastegate[s] open and throwing the codes, so changing the solenoids might fix it?

well more boost pressure means the WG are more closed.

either way Map5 doesn't start with more boost than map1 actually and based on your mods it would stay around the same boost as map1 unless you are running high octane fuel.

did you change the boost solenoids yet? does this happen on stock (after a long 3rd gear run to redline for instance)

Running 102 Shell Nitro, no codes at all on stock settings, no codes on map 1 just when i go on map 5 and get above 5500rpm it throws the 30FF. Waiting for BMW to deliver the 2nd solenoid [promised it would be here today] and a no show! Useless Twats!

try map 2 Click here to enlarge since it has higher boost which it seems you can support with your fuel, hell you can even try map7 which has even higher boost target. at which point you can determine whether it's map related (which I doubt) or not...

judging from how you describe it it definitely feels like boost solenoids

of course I am!! dude I wish I can follow it here as I used to before moving to the US (almost 4 years now). It's just hard with the time difference to follow these races so I rely on the internet for results.

I'm hoping to go watch the Texas race next season. we'll see...

btw does it smell like fuel? is the plug gummy?

Misinformation to a degree. A weak coil can foul a plug up and still barely work...it will throw a misfire code but it wont tell you if its an injector or a coil. Only thing to do is some troubleshooting to isolate it. Changing plugs will rarely fix a 30FF code...that is a hardcore boost leak, bad wastegates, or solenoids took a $#@!...which usually when they do you will get a bad jerk/stutter followed by the half engine light.

Have not been following the thread but if you wind up needing any help just email a CSV log in. If boost is on target then the solenoids are most likely fine.

Solenoids being finally swapped out this weekend. Is it worth changing one to see which one failed ie: swap one out take it for a run, if it still underboosts swap the other?

Or should i just swap both and be done with it?

So you did the vacuum line test and was not getting 20" or more vacuum at the wastegate line when PWM is at 100%?

Had the car smoke tested with no leaks at all. As you are fully aware the smoke test wont discover anything on the vac side, so all the vac pipes are being replaced as well. Just hoping after all this, it isnt the turbo[s] on their way out.
