    Major underboosting, JB4 logs included

    Hi guys,

this isn't my car but a friend of mine who has been having issues. The car is stock bar the JB4 and DCIs. On map 4 (stock boost) it is fine but on map 1 it doesn't get close to target and barely passes 10psi. He has had a smoke test with no leaks showing up. Any pointers as to where he should start looking first?

Map 4 (stock w/ can active)

My BOV was leaking. The spring ended up giving out. If you're running one, check and make sure it isn't leaking too. Mine was opening during idle and at higher boost levels (I could hear it).

Hi Sered, the leak was present on the standard charge pipe setup so i bought the AA kit to rule that out. Leak persisted .

OK a development, not in a good way though!

tonight on the way home i gave it some juice and got my usual CEL [30FF] this time though even once i had let off and JB4 cleared the code, it struggled to make any boost at all until i stopped and restarted the car!

Not yet mate still waiting for the 2nd one to show up. Is it worth swapping one out and seeing which one is leaking? Hopefully it might just be one and cures it.

    What do you think?

Possible, what would cause that Marv ? Bad coil pack. One was quite wet and i though them all in a bag together before taking them out to take the photo.

no dude, coil has nothing to do with it. Fuel means you have a leaky injector(s). My car is at the dealership as we speak and they are investigating (under warranty Click here to enlarge ) an injector leak.

if it's oil then it could be multiple things and usually people do a compression test to make sure it's not severe and "only" a gasket leak.

btw does it smell like fuel? is the plug gummy?

Just checked them, does not smell of fuel. Will run the new plugs for a couple of weeks and pull them and see what is on there if anything. Is the injector issue a expensive fix?

yes it is, because the injectors are expensive and now with the new injector style you need to change all of them Click here to enlarge

its not a hard diy at least, but they cost some and the new ones you need to replace all 6, but I'm not sure that is all bad since the old ones break down all the time...
