    Winemakers re-release acclaimed vintages.

    Shoemakers re-release classic designs.

BMW themselves is doing EXACTLY this with an upcoming motorcycle: http://www.bimmerboost.com/content.p...th-automobiles

    So why not a car?

If at one point they were incorrect, then why now is it accepted? Because people are misinformed, don't know where the word came from and don't bother to find or nor care.

Does this mean the Crossfire guys who all badge their cars as AMG's will one day be accepted as that too now?
If i'm understanding correctly, your basic point seemed fitting. Which is why you threw out the " Grammar Nazi " and couch emoticon to show you were really just being a stickler from force of habit. I do find your points valid but, a bit overboard with your examples. I doubt anyone would use orange for apple as they're too close in proximity for understanding. Why call a fruit another type of fruit ? Sure someone COULD do it but, I just highly doutb they would. It creates more confusion which basically defeats the purpose.

Here's my question as i'm genuinely interested ....

As for being wrong for a proper usage, wouldn't that be determined by the agreed social understanding of the word ? If " Moot " meant " xyz " in the 1700's but, it means " abc " now, does that really mean it's " abc " usage today is actually wrong ? I guess i'm leaning on what Inconspicuous is saying in that, how can it be wrong if it's intention is understood ?

For some reason I found your debate rather interesting lol.

Frankly, I could give a damn (see what I did there) what other people do with their cars. I don't have time to fritter away on such frivolous matters. I'm far too busy with important things like arguing about grammar on the Internet.

Well considering this issue has taken up roughly 1/5th or 1/6th of your total post count I'd beg to differ but no need to debate the debate so carry on.

This is pretty much what I'm getting at. When you break it all the way down, language is a series of words, and words are symbols. What matters is the idea that they represent, and whether that's getting across. The symbols are, both in theory and practice, interchangeable. Shakespeare was right about roses.

BTW, you realize that by signaling your appreciation for the debate and egging us on, you're now culpable as an enabler, right? When they come with the pitchforks and torches, you're going down with us.

Don't get me wrong. Every time I see someone spell the word "lose" with more than one O, I die a little inside. Is that worse than when things are "for all intensive purposes?" You tell me. I try not to think about it too much.

I suppose I have much less self control in this respect. Maybe it's just me displacing my grammar/language scoldings in my home life upon others in the digital realm to release stress.

@JRCART Is the wing easily removable on the BS? SportAuto measured the no aero C63 PP is faster by 17km/h compared to the BS on the Döttinger Höhe of the Nürburgring.

We contimplated removing it for the event, the rear wing is easily removable but front splitter and canards are not, so we were affraid all the downforce in the front would push down and shove the ass end up into the wind and mess up the aero even worse. It definately keep the car planted and stable.

I can attest to that - I rode shotgun a few times and at 170+ mph the car was solid as a rock one handed - quite a machine.
