    Testing e-tune map from PTF - did 60-130 in 8.18 s in 4th gear

    Where I live it snows in the winter. Most, if not all of the time. Which means that I have not been able to test out my car after I got the DME software updated to the latest version (I8A0S for my MSD80).

    Well, yesterday the roads were finally almost fit for driving, so I started testing. I ended up spending all the day testing, and using up most of Dzenno's time as well.

    We finally ended up with a very powerful E50 tune with clean logs, boosting ~20.5 psi midrange, ~19 psi at peak hp and ~17.5 psi near redline (6800 rpm). Neither of us could quite believe how powerful the runs looked for a full weight car with a heavy driver (250+ lbs), so on the last few runs I decided to put the Performance Box in the car to see it the road was indeed flat. It turned out there was a decline of just 0.09%

    As a bonus I discovered that the car did 100-200 kmh in 7.07 seconds and 60-130 mph in just 8.18 seconds, in ONE gear (4th) on a flat road with crappy rear tyres. Now this would have also never happened if I hadn't had the defiv diff lockdown kit mounted, the rear end was just so planted, even in 30F temps and with crappy tyres.

    Hmm, tried to edit previous post to elaborate a bit more, but couldn't for some reason...

    Dzenno did it all. I just uploadet the maps and did the road tests. I initially was capped at 18.6 psi with the old DME software version, and after updating I was suffering from the 2D59 Torque limit error (quite scary when that happens the first time and you don't know what it is). It took quite some time to get it ironed out, but I think part of the solution was to cap boost at 1.45 bar, but how it was done specifically only Dzenno knows. I had some throttle closure issues with the old DME software as well, and that's all gone now. Also timing advance is improved.

    As far as gains, we picked up about at least 45-55 whp across most of the range (3000-6000 rpm) compared to what was possible with the old DME software, which quite nicely translated into about the same ~10% improvement on the road. Best 100-200 kmh time with old DME/COBB/RBs was around 7.8 s in the same conditions.

    Yes, at least I didn't know anybody else who could do it.

    But I profited of the wet roads for some drifting and scaring the gf lol

    Really happy with that time as well given 4th gear only, flat level road, winter tires, full weight and then some Click here to enlarge RBs manage to pull these boost levels with just 35-45% wgdc which is also very nice for longevity reasons..looking forward to 3rd gear start runs and some slope...expecting mid to low 7s by just changing those while remaining full weight..you car is faster than mine was when i got the 7.59sec 60-130 and i had seats out DRs 17" apex wheels race gas + meth, cf trunk, almost empty tank, cf trunk, 1.8% decline road and i weigh a bit less Click here to enlarge

    Yeah, it was fast before, but now it's 0.5 sec faster from 100-200 kmh in 4th than it was in 3rd + 4th before, when it put down around 475 whp. It really is crazy. And like Dzenno just mentioned, I'm quite a bit heavier than your average Joe (250+ lbs) as well, so the car is running real strong.

    Too bad you haven't got any Ethanol where you live. We don't in Denmark either acutually, but they have it in both Sweden and Germany, so I'm just ~30 kms away from the nearest Ethanol gas station.

    Yeah, I still can't quite believe the times I did last night, I remember the Vbox saying 7.3 then 7.2 with the next update and then 7.1 with the last. Never did 100-200 faster than 7.8 in 4th on a flat road before. I hope I can get some dry roads again soon. I'm sure the nice cool temps (IAT starting around 31F in the log) combined with sealevel altitude (26 ft) also helped out a bit.

    With COBB that controls boost from inside DME, yes. I think with JB4 G5 ISO it probably wouldn't matter much, if anything. Not for boost anyway, but I don't know if the newer DME software offers more/better options for tuning in general. Only thing I can conclude is that for me, it really made a difference.
