    New recall announced

I had an issue with the battery cable at one point that this sounds like. It cost around $2000 to fix (I only payed $1000 in the end because when my car went in I got reimbursed for a separate recall i payed $1000 out of pocket for). I wonder if i can get my money back... that would be an awesome present.

"A battery cable connection with a fuse box on the cars may degrade over time, which could cause the engine to stall because of a loss of electric power, increasing the risk of a crash, the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said in a report issued on Monday.

    ...

The vehicles involved in the recall include the 3-Series sedans, coupes, convertibles and sports wagons from the 2007-2011 model years, the 1-Series coupes and convertibles from model years 2008-2012 and the Z4 vehicles from model years 2009-2011."

Yes you will get your money back if you have the receipt or the dealer has record of it.

Whoa, is this mandatory? Is this one of those on or off issues?

I read over on E90 that they'll start the recall service in March once every dealer has the necessary tools & replacement parts in stock. It might not be a major problem, but why not have the dealer fix it for free then getting stuck & paying out of pocket down the road.

This happened to me and sucks when that connection went bad. I would go out to my car and get no response like a dead battery.Battery would be fully charged.I did it myself and its not hard to do at all. Mine was just a few months ago so this sucks for me.If it starts going bad it will leave you stranded and mine died in rush hour traffic one time and i had it towed home and it started right up after i got it home. So guys get it done if you havent.

Sorry for the revival on this...does this involve dismantling the dash? I got the recall letter but hate the idea of taking the car to my local dealer - I don't trust them and fear they will botch the job - leaving my car worse off than before. I'm also FBO not that it really matters at this point. In my imagination I see them joy riding all over town. Am I being a worrywart?
