Really hope that @Tomaz can get in touch with his friend & at least point us in the right direction for that Alpina TCM software. Would def be a huge upgrade for any modified car & probably make a significant impact on the upgraded trans

I don't have an AT but thought some of the information in the attached link might benefit you guys. This guy is building a TCM coding module for his BMW. He might be able to give some direction on how to flash the new code, if indeed Tomaz provides it.

Yup the car is heading to FFtec tomorrow to pull the Trans and ship to Sam at 517Trans. I think the solution that 517 is providing is one piece of the puzzle, if we can get into the TCU that will complete the upgrade and really allow us to utilize the higher revs and power band up top that the ST's have. For now I'm hopeful that the Trans build is solid and I have faster shifting and no Trans codes with the rev range and power that I have currently. Finally being able to put the power down and run the car will be great. Being at Shift Sector and having a car that you know is making the power and running well but held back by the Trans sucked and I'm determined to not have that happen again.

He seems to know his stuff and really has no bad reviews online. FWIW Level10 looks good on paper, Enrita is running it without problems but they have way to many bad reviews. As for IPT bad reviews and they were not responsive to my contact requests. This build will help figure things out for all the 6AT guys with upgraded Turbos. It's $5000 plus but hell when you have the kinda money I have in the car i might as well finish it.

The 4HP24 transmission he is working with is significantly different than the 6HP21 we have. For instance, the TCM in the 4HP is external, it is known as the AGS, I believe. Basically what he is doing is making his own TCM. This is something we could do, but would take a significant amount of development. However, given the trouble people have had with interfacing to the Mechatronics, it is an avenue that might be worth exploring.

I'll have a look at this design, and try to figure out the differences between the 6HP21 and 4HP24 valve bodies. The hardest part of this is going to be getting the aftermarket TCU to play nice with the DME.

How we don't have a definitive 6AT upgrade list by now I have no clue. It's been long enough, there should be several tried and true options.

Just got a chance to drive my car after level 10 upgrade.I sent my valvebody and converter to level10 and had my local trans. shop do the work.I am already experiencing a issue.I drove it all day saturday and everything seemed to be great. Shifting was firmer but not overly aggressive. Then i did a WOT run and had to let off right before the 2nd to 3rd shift and car shifted extremely hard.So hard i thought i had been rear ended. So now its going back to the shop to figure out the issue.I tried the same thing yesterday with the same result. Hopefully its a easy fix.Im on stock turbos until vargas stage II are sent out and using G5 iso. Not a trans. specialist so im not sure what the issue is but it really holds and shifts well.

    This isn't a good sign...

    What did Level 10 say?

Left that to the trans. shop. They have been the ones communicating with level 10.But i know the guys well and they have built several trans. for me in the past. Ive had level 10 trans. before and never had a issue But those were on a allison and a dodge so this is probably a lot different. Im sure they will get it worked out. I really want to get some miles on it on the stockers before i abuse it with stage II. But running map 3 with a 70 additive felt really strong. I could never get it to hold in 2nd or 3rd. with anything above a 55 additive before on a second gear launch with dr's.and it held strong yesterday so im confident it will hold and just needs the bugs to be worked out. and yes it was broken in.My wife picked it up and drove from dallas to Houston twice on map 1 so it got a few miles before i pushed it.

Sounds like a valvebody tuning issue. L10 should be able to fix that I'd think. Good luck with it!

I have never experienced that issue luckily since it would be difficult for me to troubleshoot it overseas...

You need WinKPF to reflash your TCU.

Sounds like it could possibly be a install error, if everything else is working correctly. (just speculation) hope you can get it worked out and give us a review!

I got impatient and called pat at level 10 and his advise was to take the car out and drive it like i stole it! He told me this is a very intelligent trans. and it needs to learn. I havent been driving it alot due to work so its been on map 1. So im gonna take his advice and see what happens. He said when you change maps or programs it gonna have to learn to that power level and should straighten right out. He said its not uncommon and didnt act as if it was a problem. I had the trans shop take pics and when i get back from business trip ill sit down with them and come up with a review.I normally do upgrades myself but this is out of my league so info will be based on their findings.I do know the clutch packs looked burnt to hell and when i did fluid change 10k ago nothing smelled burnt or gave me any sign that they were burnt.
