All true. I see you have a 335i '07. Have you experienced any transmission issues, such as prolonged 2-3 transition in both D and DS modes and harsh shifts in DS mode? I am having 335i '07 myself and I am getting the symptoms I am asking about above. I've done the fluid change as well which made things better for couple months but now I'm back to having the same problems. I don't have slip under heavy load so I am suspecting the mechatronic isn't playing nice anymore (which is why I am poking around this topic).
    Hopefully this is not off-topic.

I've heard the accumulators can wear out. In stock form they are only little rubber balls under pistons. Sonnax sells a kit with improved accumulator which actually use springs instead of rubber balls. I would think malfunctioning accumulators could cause erratic shift behavior, but i am not an automatic transmission technician. Instead of posting in the reference documents study, it might be best to start your own thread.

The ATSG technical manual is no longer available, but I found this table on my computer showing which clutches are engaged for each gear. It's for the 6HP26, but the internal construction should be similar to the 6HP21 (Lepelletier epicyclic/planetary gearset).

    You're welcome.
I have the updated links for most of the dead links in the main post, Sonnax ZIP Kit and other repair manuals for 6HP21.
I need more reputation points to post.

    Thanks

How about changing just the yellow solenoids for orange ones??????? it should improve since EDS4,5 and 6 are in charge of
    4 – D & E Clutch
    5 – EPC= Electronic pressure control
    6 – TCC= torque converter clutch
Yellow solenoids are rated at 4.6bar at 0mA vs orange solenoids, 4.7bar at 0mA bar both are falling solenoids. It will be great to find a uprated rising solenoids to replace the blue ones rated 4.6bar at 700mA. More pressure, firmer shifts overall. Any info in modifying stock solenoids to deliver more pressure, say 5bar????

[COLOR=rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.701961)]Hello there, I drive an bmw 335i e90 2007 production 2006 and I have a problem with my transmission, rough shift, jerk from 2nd to 1st, and harsh downshift. I already spend a lot of money to install the zip kit for the valve body, I also changed the fluid pan and filter, tried to reset the adaptation but the problem still there!
The only things I didn't replace are the solenoid, and the fluid is aftermarket, can be the cause of the issue?
If somebody know more things about this problem let me know thanks!

@nirvanabob I have read in multiple places that replacing solenoids would help with your symptoms. Google search "auto transmission hard down shift" on e90**** . I see this resolves issues on other platforms using the same transmission as well.

On the side note, did the Sonnax Zip Kit help at all? Do you see any improvement in any areas in terms of shifting? I am tempted to put the Sonnax Zip Kit on when changing my leaky mechtronics gasket to reinforce my transmission a bit before major power upgrades.

    Hi there,
Actually I sold my old car, now I have the new Bmw 335i xdrive 8 speed transmission!
by the way, if you want to really fix the transmission you need to change the mechatronic sleeve, all the seals, separator plate, fluid and pan/filter, and install the zip kit! Use only the Bmw fluid or ZF lifeguard no aftermarket is the most important for the hot/cold whether!
After that you can feel the difference!
I did this on my old car and only after change all of this things I felt the difference!
let me know if you need more help!

Did it alleviate your transmission issues even without getting new solenoids? Did the shifts feel any different (faster, slower, firmer, looser, etc)? The Zip Kit costs $140 and I am wondering if it is worth the extra effort.

The first thing I did was installed the zip kit, fluid/pan and after that the car was running not so bad, with a little jerk between the gears!
At that time I put the wrong transmission fluid, the aftermarket fluid!
Then I bought the solenoid kit and I installed them with new fluid ZF lifeguard!
After that the car was running much more smooth!
If you want really fix the transmission buy all of this things and make sure use only the Bmw or ZF fluid, fill it up at the right temperature!

I am not sure on the processor, but pre 03/07 is most likely different than post 03/07. I say this because the Alpina code works in one but not the other. Unless the change is just the supporting hardware and the processor is the same, though I don't think that is likely.

It uses the MPC556 processor. I haven't found anything more specific in my searching thus far.

ive got a stripped mechatronics on my bench I can talk to. I was hoping to get access to the processor, but the actual electronics part is encased in a metal tin. So there's no way to get any more hardware info as far as I can see.

that being said, the unit on my bench is sacrificial so we can play with it and it does run an Alpina tune on it. I've managed to pull around 32k worth of data off it, hoping to see how the raw data relates to the Encrypted SPDaten files but ended up getting side tracked with other things.
