Final stage 3 pics before it goes in

Figured I would post these since you cant see any of it except the top pipe once its installed. Unlike other shops that announced turbo kits and a year later you are wondering where it is, with no updates. Less then 4 months from announcement to completion. In she goes......

Please excuse my ignorance on the subject, but wouldn't this heat wrap on the exhaust plumbing:

    a) cause localized hot spots -> difference in thermal expansion -> increased possibility of cracking
    b) rust

Otherwise this looks insane! I am impatiently awaiting pictures of this actually fitting inside the engine bay. BTW, is this going in a 335i or 135i?

The wrap is designed for wrapping manifolds and exhausts. Its what it does. Turbos work better if you keep the heat in the piping, the added benefit is keeping this heat out of the engine bay. Can it cause cracking, sure. That's why high quality SS is used to keep things from cracking. For the production kit, if there is even enough interest to release one, will have the option of coating instead of wrap, does the same thing with less hassle.

EVERYONE should be all over this! Click here to enlarge o2s in the right place (post turbine), TWINS, 800hp worth of flow, range of Garrett GT28 and GTX28 turbos to choose from, OEM boost control, short runners...now all that we need to see is numbers and the great part is ALL current N54 tuning solutions can be used, no jumping through hoops..Last thing I'd worry about is header wrap on a prototype kit Click here to enlarge

Last (or 1st depending on who you are) thing I'd worry about is how many 6ATs those twins are gonna eat up with all the low end TQ. Hopefully once the fueling & tuning has been figured out, the Steptronic crowd will get a legit trans upgrade so we can enjoy GTX power too

As far as stage 2's go Tony is dependent on other people making parts, out of spec the first time, and shipping them when they say they are. Nothing he could really do there to speed them along the way I see it. Stage 3's were built in house with readily available turbos, and a dedicated person wanting to push this platform to the next level. Keep it up Tony!
