    Failed Emissions Readiness Test

Has anyone failed their emissions readiness test? If so what did you do to get it to pass?

Yup. My car is now useless since it is illegal to drive my car.

Why would anyone do an emission test, knowing you dont have cats? If you live in a emission testing state, its best to install all the OEM exhaust components back before doing the test....

The car will pass with the HFCs. It's the readiness test that it is not passing which is software related.

You could flash it back to stock software...

Theres a certain way to drive it that makes it read legal. I dont know how though. Will ask my friend.

Driving it will only "make it legal" if it's stock. Some OBD parameters are checked continuously. Some are only checked occasionally. The O2 sensors are one such parameter. If they don't report when they're asked (ready?) then they fail readiness. However, sometimes it just gets missed. So the state (at least in Maryland) will let you drive around for a week then retest in hopes that during this time the OBD will have checked and the readiness state will be set. If you don't pass the second time then you fail.

ESS claims that their tune for the Akra exhaust will let the car pass readiness where it otherwise won't. This is still with the cats on the Akra though. I don't know if it works or not.

    Cheers.
