    Boost Solenoid Buzz...

    Hey everyone,

Just looking for some insight as to what im hearing, and if i should do anything about it. My car has been making some boost solenoid buzz ever since i changed my WGPosition to 80%. It doesnt make any sound at 50%, but i get really bad wastegate rattle at start-up and accel/decel. Since i switched it to 80%, the rattle has gone away on start-up, and i only get slight rattle on acceleration in 2nd gear, but this obnoxious buzz has reappeared.

What causes the boost solenoid to buzz, and why is it related to my wastegate position?

Here is a video i took a while back, the numbers that i shout out are the wgpositions. Yes, its a $#@!ty video lol

The pulse width modulation scheme of controlling the average voltage to the solenoid to adjust waste gate position could cause buzzing if the pwm frequency was in the audible range.

After listening, that sounds like a really low frequency for PWM, but it all depends on the electrical time constant of the solenoid.

Does anyone else running the same setup experience the buzzing when adjusting the WGPosition parameter?

I ended up setting my WGPos to 30%. No rattle and no solenoid buzz. Any issues with using a tension that low?

Interesting. So we have two people using Procedes with the same buzzing sound. Can anyone else with the Procede chime in with their experience? Are people with the JB4 experiencing buzzing - maybe when adjusting the "Future Use D" setting?

Mine buzzes sometimes or makes a wheezing noise when I turn the car off. Otherwise nothing. On JB4 with default wastegate 80.
