Repped for truth. The thing is though, true M3 enthusiasts are hard to find recently.

The E36 and E46 M3's are the best of the breed IMO... The E30 stands alone in my view the balance vs traction vs looks vs stance was spot on. The E36 deviated but was a fantastic car in the US despite not getting the ballsy motor Euro models had. The E46 to the inline 6 up took edge with aggressive power, remarkable handling and menacing looks. I still get excited looking at those cars... The next M needs to be 6cyls and sub 3500lbs to truly recapture its glory, 425-450hp at the crank and that dog will hint IMO.

Now if Audi drops the TT V8 in the RS5 or S5 then sure its gonna be balls out fast with traction and it will handle very well for sure while looking amazing. Thats their niche amazing looks and traction... AMG is and should always be about being brutish they are the Muscle Cars of the Luxury world IMO. Its a muscular but refined car, but handling is not their strong suit while utter straightline speed is something they do in spades. They are animals but not really track sluts perhaps in Black Series form but thats about it.

The M brand needs to be lighter, better balanced and make significant but not monster power. Its the track slut/DD with nice amenities, style and panache. BMW needs to be like Stella and get their groove back.
    We stay swingin...

This is different, M has changed radically since then.

Also the recent butt kicking BMW took in the Lightning Lap event.

And the additional comparo loses the M5 has ahead, when mags get their hands on the refreshed E63-S and CLS63-S.

Exactly. There weren't ///M SUVs, 1 series M, M135i, blah blah blah, back in the days of the E36/46 to demonstrate just how much the focus has shifted in M division.

BMW will have to get damn close to 3000lbs to compete with 550-600hp RS models from Audi. The porker M5 and M6 show that this is not likely to happen. The M4 will need as much CF as the new Viper to offset the weight of 3 turbos, water intercooling, 20" wheels, electric suspension, etc. Where do they save 300 more lbs for true weight reduction over the E92?

BMW can not perform miracles. The F30 335i weighs 3,550 lbs. They would be lucky to shed 100 lbs off that, I don't even see that happening.
Did ya not read between the lines here?

    Let me be more blunt.

Lets have one of us get a hold of one and throw it on some scales before we cast judgement or pray for miracles.

I hope the fighting weight is close the 46M. I have serious doubts however.
