Well how to do it really depends on budget.

What are you looking to spend? With stock internals looks like you are going to be going with a thicker head gasket. Where do you live, you going to be running this thing on 91 or 93 octane?

What Sticky said. What are you looking to spend and how much power do you wanna make. Is the car obd1 or obd2? Are you located in the US, or else where?

I'm in west London and I'll be running it on standard petrol think it's 93 and all though it sounds strange I'm looking a cheap as possible I have a lot of contacts for the fabrication or most stuff and I'm very mechanical minded with $#@! loads of my own tools so I can do the work my self I've just never got involved with the turbo side of things and really want to do it because I'm now board with the way it runs don't get me wrong it's VERY quick I even kept on the arse on e36 m3 maybe the dude couldn't drive but don't burst my bubble just yet lol but I'm looking for it to be done as cheap as possible with all my own work except for the tuning side of it to get it running how it should you were saying about changing the head gasket is that a necessity ??? Cheers people

If you are going to run the stock motor you will need a head gasket mls .140, and arp 2000's head studs. You can get away with running on stock compression, but the will limit the amount of boost/power you can make. What are your power goals?

How much money do you have to work with?
How much skills (bow hunting, nun chuck, computer hacking) do you have to do the install or fabricate pieces?

What city, state are you in?

Your goals are pretty modest, this won't be that bad on your wallet.

I'm just not sure if you need to source the parts in UK.

It just depends on who you are buying from. I would recommend getting it as complete as possible.

850 pounds though? That sounds quite cheap.

    Yes,
those 850 pound kits on eBay are garbage.

    No tuning,
    horrible fitment,
    no R&D,
    NO accountability (no customer service).

    If you own a BMW
    and you RESPECT it,
you'll not be hasty with your money.

    Take you time,
    read up about good KITS.

The Racer's Market has some VERY proven stuff,
but its MUCH more than 850 pounds.
There are other BMW M50 based kit makers,
    BUT, I repeat BUT,
I know for sure that The Racer's Market (TRM) is willing to ship their product overseas
    and provide support.

    They have multiple kits overseas.
