Yeah, I get that slag that just comes up as one or two long pieces sometimes. Kinda rewarding.

Dunno, just so rare that they look pretty, maybe it's just in comparison to TIG.

Your slag should come up like that all the time. Click here to enlarge
Should look "pretty" (uniform) no matter what process was used.

Varies a good deal with the type of flux. What kind of electrodes and settings do you frequently weld with?

It's great. Such a random and comical thing to be catching a chicken with a little handheld net, and has so little relevance to anything.

Used to do alot of 70XX(mostly 7018) and a lot of 232 flux core wire welding.

Ahh, yeah, I was practicing with 7018 and 7024 yesterday. The 7018 definitely has a flux that just cracks and lifts off as it cools when you're doing it right. The 7024 on the other hand didn't really let go of the flux the same and required some actual chipping.

None yet, being that I'm not particularly proud of my stick welding. I'll try and get some if I remember.

I've done vertical, but no overhead. I only really care to do that in TIG or oxy-ace, I don't like getting showered in slag. lol

Did you weld professionally or just as a hobby?
