Enjoying the Bulleit Rye Bourbon right now which is very nice. It's not the most complex but it's mature enough to drink neat and offers some nice spice.

Ice cubes kill a bit of the flavor but this is a solid whiskey. For the $18 I paid I don't think you will find a better value on the market.

Not impressed. The 12 is meh, the 15 is ok, and so is the 18. I wouldn't buy any of them again.

The Gold Label Reserve is better than all of them IMO but pretty intense with flavor and almost a dessert whiskey. I think I prefer peaty / Islay Scotches for sipping at least initially.

Shame but thanks I shall strike them off my list. As for the jw I typically swerve blended whiskys with exception of monkey shoulder. Back to the highland park for me tonight I think or maybe something with even more of a peat hit decisions decisions!!!

I don't know why people usually look down on blended whiskeys. This stuff is superb.

Also, Compass Box has some amazing blended whiskeys. If you are blending quality single malt, who cares?

Not all blended whiskys are blends of single malts. No snobbery or turning my nose up as such and I will drink a blend especially when it is blended from single malts however I do generally always buy singles. And I agree there are some cracking blends out there I don't for one minute buy into the misconception that because it's a single it is in anyway superior however there are many blends that haven't impressed so until I have worked my way through the many single malts I am sticking to them!

Well tonight's offering is a free bottle of highland park and I got a bottle of laphroaig. Tonight is a peat night!

Yes you do! Although from looking at your whisky tastes I'd say you'd prefer it as a starter. Couple of highland parks followed by a couple of ardbegs or laphroaigs. The highland is my new goto whisky for everyday use!!! Best of both worlds

Ran out of clean underwear so I went to Costco to buy new underwear. While there I saw this Macallan I've never seen before so I had to buy it.

    Delicious!

quoted from whiskeyexchange and couldn't agree more fantastic tastes.

Talisker Storm has all the warm, smoky, peppery characteristics we all love in the standard Talisker 10yo - but they've been turned up a notch, with more smoke, more spices, and a bigger than ever flavour explosion.

Only had the standard jamesons which I am sure is nothing compared with that but was ok. Was servered with ice and a slice so couldn't really get a good taste.

Happy birthday hope it was a good one.
