Gov. Cuomo proposing legislature to ban all assault rifles and no grandfathering.

Well hes at it again....im on my phone and trying to copy the link but its not working. They are using any resource they have to get this to pass, and there will be no grandfathering of already owned weapons. More or less they want you to come forward and surrender your weapons to the police with no compensation.

I highly doubt its gonna get to that point but Cuomo is about as crooked as his father was, and hes trying to have his moment in the sun.

Good luck with that, vote this douchebag out of office. If that want to push a civil war they are doing a good job.

And whom is willing to test the theory of confiscating weapons from US citizens on US soil..?

remember, the highest law there is, is a Sheriff in his county.. some states are proposing the exact opposite, and even going as far as proposing to arrest Federal Agents attempting to do so.. need to find the article..

oh, so where are those guys running their mouths prior to the election talking about Obama and his cronies not wanting to take guns away..?

what im saying, is most people that would be ordered to/ given the task of, confiscating weapons, are pro America, ie pro-guns. and would not enforce it..

People keep saying "what?, do these people want to start a civil war?" well.. yea..

time to start buying more ammo.

I honestly don't see how they expect to make people surrender their property. Perhaps if they do a fair market value gun buyback program - but just taking someones property will never work and will end up in the courts for years and years. I mean even if the government used the same amount it did to bailout AIG - $182mm, that might pay fair market value for maybe 100 million assault rifles...but I just don't see that happening nor would it do much to get rid of all the illegal guns.
The culture of guns in the USA is a generational problem. We have been allowed to buy and own these types of guns for so long now, and there are just so many in circulation that it's turned into a irreversible problem. And we as a society will never be able to stop gun violence. Perhaps if they start taxing ammunition so heavily that it makes it too expensive for people to commit these mass killings that would be a great thing. But we are still going to have thousands dead from suicide and the rest of those 10k a year or so who are killed from single shots, gang violence etc will never stop. The only way to truly stop is it to ban guns and abolish the 2nd Amendment - and that's NEVER going to happen.

    confused..

we have been allowed so long because of an oppressive government abusing powers, so those that sought to no longer be subjects to another human being revolted and formed what is known as the Constitution. A body of rules that have made the US.. remeber what US stands for United, States, of America, not the State, or united state singular. They realized that power corrupts, and when a governing body gets too large, the people have little effect, hence why STATES were meant, are bound to have their own law..and the peoples rights to ALWAYS defend themselves from such a government, SHALL NOT BE INFRINGED.. sound familiar?

definition of infringe:to encroach upon in a way that violates law or the rights of another
definition of encroach: to enter by gradual steps or by stealth into the possessions or rights of another
    definition of gradual:
: 1. proceeding by steps or degrees
2: moving, changing, or developing by fine or often imperceptible degrees
    definition of imperceptable:
: not perceptible by a sense or by the mind : extremely slight, gradual, or subtle

Flawed? not really. I fail to see how a person that has flourished under the protection of said rules, now questions those same rules and deems them inept/ out-dated, and unnecessary..

Tax, again, tax what? lets make every bullet $10.00 How would that have STOPPED anything that is being brought up right now? how?
those mentally ill people would have had to pay an extra couple hundred $ to do what they did, yet somehow the legal citizens are the only ones getting screwed.

Your forgetting a LARGE portion of America still actually hunts for food. So, now you want to limit how people eat? ok, that will fly..

oh, what you mean is like the gang-bangers that do the majority of fire-arms related crimes.. oh, those people that break laws to pay for whatever it is they buy, which BTW is not insurance or 401k, taxes, etc.. its usually the next fix, or iphone, or 26" dubs, nike's etc.... so your telling me that a drug dealer will no longer continue to have a weapon,or be able to buy the ammo he wants, because ammo costs more, when he needs a weapon to protect himself from other criminals doing the same thing..and his sole income is in illegal drug trafficking..

once again, where was all this outrage prior to the last few months? i mean .02% use "assault" weapons, hell newton didnt even use a rifle..

lets not forget the reports of multiple shooters that are not discussed

I hear what you are saying and do not disagree. But I think people are taking this "infringing on our rights" a bit too far. Look at many other countries in the world and you will find citizens who actually have their rights infringed upon.

I never said the gang members wouldn't be able to afford higher priced ammo - I said I might put en end to these mass killings we see, Newtown, Aurora etc....

Once again, I'm looking for ways to change rather than just accepting the status quo.

And off the bridge everyone goes...

Looking forward to seeing the first local officer trying to arrest a Federal Officer thats gonna be really fun to see. A lil commmon sense and less rhetoric from the NRA, White House and the Houses and maybe they could pass some smart legislation. There's room for some adjustments, loophole closing and compromises if people would negotiate. People seem to always overlook the obvious

other countries? you mean all those 3rd world countries, or the european union countries, or the socialist, communist ones?

increased taxes on ammo, again, what price? how many rounds were fired? 50? and that cost 100-200? so you want to raise the tax on them to how high? 2, 3, 4 5x the price? so they would have to pay 1000 to do what was still determined to do, and end their own life? i see what your saying, in theory, but the difference between theory and application/execution is lacking..

change the status quo? as in how, the fact that all mass shootings were on, or coming off psych drugs? seems thats the larger issue, dont you agree?

noone seems to be able to logically answer the question on how laws prohibiting weapons (oddly, the weapons NOT USED in the mass killings) would have prevented them..

You are ready to kill somebody for the simple right to own a assault rifle?

I'm ready to kill somebody for the simple right to life and liberty. Our Founding Fathers felt the same way.
