If the sleeves are properly installed then they seem very durable.

I personally twin-supercharged two E39 M5s. One of them cracked the block at 8 psi on the dyno Dynamics. Put sleeves and boosted 18 psi. owner bankrupt and no more tests. car was sold. Other was stock engine, owner had 2 ferraris / a 996 TT. So he was not into E39 M5. He bought a E60 M5, accident at 160 mph, and been at intensive care for the last 3 years.....

highest heard of was discovery-automotive had built a s.c e39 s62 and had 1 car claiming 1000 flywheel hp, sadly their company has gone belly up. most of their engines were machined thru vacmotorsports.com in philly and use the darton sleeves like most builds.

i know i have seen one of their cars dyno sheets on a forum years ago producing at least 750rwhp and 600's in torque.

good luck with build as 1k hp is possible with proper ems and engine work.

Discovery Motors was a shame and all the D/A cars had problems. And many owners were/are too embarrassed to come forward, unlike younger M3 owners. I know this first hand.
