Of course you've only read great things about them.

There's nothing wrong with the kits. It's the culture/attitude.

    Welcome.
Thanks for the reply. I like the idea of the 8 rib belt. I'll look into modifying the ess kit to accommodate an 8rib design.

Where have you done the majority of you're reading? Like Sticky said, I don't have any kit for the kit, it's a problem with ESS' staff & their blind, obnoxious followers who refuse to acknowledge the performance accomplishments of any of the other E9x superchargers (Gintani, Active Autowerke, VF Engineering & Evolve).

I see you're new, so maybe you should read this to understand what I'm talking about: http://bimmerboost.com/showthread.ph...nda-for-Evolve

BUT while we're on the subject, you should be aware that there is a potentially dangerous flaw with the ESS kit. If you're hammering it & let off, the supercharger briefly continues to accelerate the car because it doesn't release boost quickly enough.

If that is happening, the plenum would blow. If it's too strong the excess charge would blow by the impeller in the supercharger.

The throttle bodies would be closed in any case and there is no way any damage to the motor could be caused....

Even if the plenum blows it would take someone quite brave to go back on the throttle and suck in the debris flying in the opposite direction at quite some speed.

In any case, as we are talking about blow off valves it is time I actually mention why we have two blow off valves.

If one fails by any chance, the other one will blow off enough to stop anything going wrong.

They are also recirculating and we will show pics next week of the whole system.

    Shameless plug or acceptable?

Would it blow if it just wasn't releasing boost immediately?? I think that the ESS kit's BOV (not sure if it's one or two) just isn't immediately dumping the boost, which is why the car continues to pull on slightly lower boost.

This could be nothing to do with the BOV. It could be be related to how the DME has been calibrated. Who knows?
I doubt that BOV is the cause having seen it being used on other kits. It is a very widely used BOV from Vortech.

We had a similar issue but the reverse on another supercharger kit (won't mention which one of course). If you cam off and on the throttle hard there was a huge delay. Wrong maps were changed. No idea what they were thinking there but the customer ended up changing his gearbox, clutch, throttle actuators before he came to us.... just the software calibration was wrong!

Just saw this because the thread got bumped, but it's amazing how much damage the software on the newer cars can cause (especially when not calibrated correctly)

    Battle of the Rotrex!

Rotrex FTW. Had some nice driving time today and wow. I usually get bored of things fast but this thing is so damn fun. Just got a V2 perf wheel put on. I don't know why I waited...much bigger difference than I thought! The size is perfect...easier to turn IMO.

i want to see someone use a procharger on one of these cars and make some real power! I myself have a v3 on my m3 and I know from personal experience on my drag cars that a comparable procharger would make more power no question!

If you're gonna see a ProCharger on an E9x M3, it's gonna come out of Gintani's shop. Active Autowerke & Evolve both use the Rotrex C38, whie VF Engineering + ESS use the V3 Si. Gintani uses the V3 in it's stock motor kits, but if you do a built motor you can opt for the V3 (pointless), a T-Trim or the YSI Click here to enlarge I'm sure if someone's more power hungry (and has the funds for Gintani to do the R&D on a ProCharger bracket & tuning), they'll do it.

The YSI's been done on a 6MT E90 shop car & the T-Trim's been done on a customer car (Tightie, put down ~660 WHP on 91). Def become more common as E9x M3 prices drop & more people pour mod money into them.
