I just realized the M135i has the fake sound piping system like the M5. SMH

I was amazed at the lap time difference... Considering it appears fairly cold and slightly damp yet the AWD of the Scooby did nothing. Not to mention the rather poor comments on the Scoobs interior LOL

    Wrong thread.

i'm impressed by the M135i. Good to know that BMW still knows a thing or two about making fast cars.

Sti's never were that great as far as handling goes. One thing I noticed was the guy said the m135 has the dct transmission but then said it has 8 gears which sounds like the new ZF 8 speed auto. Impressive none the less.

You also have to take into account the M135i comes on Michelin PSS as standard. So you don't hear the desperate searching for grip noises the STi makes on it's Dunlop Sports.

Well, actually yes, apples to apples.
Subaru made the choice of delivering their car on these Dunlop OEM tires.
BMW had the same choice, they just chose a better tire as OEM.
And in the same movement made those sizes available in the EU! Click here to enlarge

So out of the box experience for both cars.

Yes, out of the box, they run what they run. But it doesn't really make it a level playing field for a performance comparison if one car has an advantage in tires.

Well you're def paying extra for the tires on the BMW. It's not going to be sold here in the US but if it was I'm sure it would be at least $5k more than that subbie. That's the Euro M135i. Probably around $40k if I had to guess. STIs are around $35 now days completely loaded out.

Yes and this is where we come in and analyze it. BMW won, but mostly due to the tires.
