As I posted on the other site, I don't know his forum name, whether he built it in his home garage or whether he owns a shop and built it there. Like I've said before I get all sorts of stuff sent in. It's up to the customers to join forums and post details if they are so inclined. Click here to enlarge

But he's running a JB4 ISO using a 12psi spring on the wastegate (since we don't have the single turbo boost logic written for the JB4 yet), and apparently it's running well. He'll be adding a BMS flash soon and raising the boost.

what's the "single turbo boost logic' part mean?... it doesn't work with non-factory dual solenoids/actuator setup?

It's my understanding that the factory wastegates work in reverse of normal wastegates. That could be part of the reason.

My next house will have a MIG/TIG in the garage along with a lift Click here to enlarge I hope single manifolds for the N54 are more prevalent by then.

Big enough to swallow a small cat, most likely. Thats how turbo sizing goes, right?

So this is significantly larger that Shiv's right? Anyone have ideas as to max HP the turbo + engine are capable of assuming fueling isn't an issue & the block is able hold together?

You cannot say this is significantly larger than the VFF kits. Many turbos have similar frames with differing wheels. Looks like a T4 footprint (although hard to tell cause of the heat blanket), and a Garrett Compressor housing. Could be any number of wheels in there.

Looks like someone did what I was yammering on about 2.5 years ago. Delete/relocate the boost canisters, etc, relocate the coolant overflow tank, slap big single on top. Curious to see how this turns out...major props if it's working well. Shame he isn't local to help speed up the results.

I'd like to see the manifold, too, wondering whether it's built with separate banks or not. Looks like a nice fit, though. I would also caution against the blanket. Had one E30/S52 top mount turbo car here that is solely a track car (approx 550RWHP on medium boost). It cooked the blanket to dust and seized the turbo dead. I fabricated a heat shield for the entire valve cover edge (that was melted, too), used a Turbonetics stainless steel formed turbine heat shield for a T4, and made sure there was enough air gap to evacuate hot air away from the important bits. Unrelated to the N54 engine was inadequate water flow into the turbo, as well, and I had to correct the water path to ensure better flow through the turbo. But that and I suspect the blanket combined to cook the last turbo after not too many track days.

Looking good, the lack of heat-shielding on the valve cover plastic is a little alarming... but who knows what temps that plastic withstands.

Yeah, I didn't post anything before it was finished just in case it caught fire or something LOL. I've been driving it for several weeks now. After the holidays I will order the BMS flash and start raising boost.

That looks badass! It would be so convenient servicing the turbo from under the hood than underneath the car.

Yeah, I'm not a big fan of the filter size and placement. There wasn't enough room to go down to the front bumper (charge pipe going to the intercooler is in the way), but eventually I would like to run a pipe across the top of the radiator and over to the cold side of the engine. I'll have to get creative with that though, because there isn't much room going over the cooling fan. I will need to mold some kind of custom tube or use oval pipe.
