progressives are soft for most of your driving - going over bumps and $#@!, but when you settle into the "meat" of the spring they'll be stiffer. The idea is a "best of both worlds" thing - soft when you want it and stiff when you need it (lol). They do a pretty good job, but they can introduce some uncertainty as to how the car is going to behave because it's hard (impossible) for the driver to know exactly how to expect the spring to react to different slip angles at different speeds on different roads with different pavement on different tires at different temperatures etc....

linears are always the same. The first cm of travel responds the same as the next 5cm. The uncertainty is gone, and you have no more racecar driver excuses to why you are so slow

Zah. But that's gonna give a harsher ride correct? But on the upside it's prob been these $#@!ting springs holding me back from becoming race car driver

harshness is a function of the shock in my experience. It will give you a stiffer ride (that's what she said). But harshness is more up to how well your shock can control the spring (and factors you can't change - like wheelbase)

Yea not that it matters that much unless my tires start blowing out if I run over ants

Wonder if I could just get new springs and get the shocks refab'd. Not sure if cross mojonations would occur and just waste/time money whilst $#@!ing up my ride
