    2nd drag strip experience (11/22/12)

After some disappointing runs at FIXXFEST @ Desoto speedway and my car experiencing: timing drops (one at 4,000rpm, and another at 6,300rpm), only boosting to 16.5psi, and shifting faster than my left foot could handle the clutch, I decided to take another crack.

My original best was my 3rd out of 5 runs at FIXXFEST:
    r/t .076
    60' 2.359
    1/8 9.074 @ 90.30 mph
    1/4mile 13.487 @ 111.94 mph

My current fastest run my was my 3rd out of 6 runs my second time around:
    60' 2.002
    330 5.971
    1/8 8.774 @ 91.30
    1000 11.249
    1/4 12.627 @ 113.98

My shift points where 1-2 @ 6,000rpm, and 6,300rpm in the other gears. I was then suggested by another member to shift at redline. Logs showed a timing drop at 6,300rpm (but would ramp up normal prior to), not sure why that's creeping up all of a sudden with these lower temps. So there's possibly another tenth or two, and maybe 1mph in there with my current mods if I shifted later and figured out my timing drop issue? IDK. Once NLS gets worked out with the JB4, that will be next on my list.

    Mods: JB4 G5 ISO, 17.5psi (50 additive), approx E50 blend (E85/93), 80/20 methanol.

Are these normal results for my mods?

Youre a bit slow on the back half of the quarter trap wise but considering you don't have downpipes or FMIC not bad.

Seems right in line for your mods. It definitely has the potential of running low 12s with a better 60ft.

Not bad! For the NLS when using E85 some cars lean out post shift badly, you may be one of those. The solution there is the BMS flash to correct the fuel trims. That will also let you run a little stronger E85 mix (say 60-70%) if you want to even more power.

with your mods and it being your second time at the strip not bad at all.. as said above if you can work on your launch to improve your 60' and possibly shift quicker throughout the run you should lose a few tenths.. If your shifts are already quick enough then I'm curious as to whats causing the low trap speed. What tires/wheels you using? We need logs to see the timing drop.. With the exception of 1-2 I shift at 6200-6300. What is wrong with your NLS?

If im reading correctly and you are tune(g5) meth and E85 mix only and i believe you are 6MT

That is very nice! Be super proud 6MT are notoriously tougher to get good ETs with and with a better launch 1.80-1.85 you will see 12.42-12.50

113 trap is right in line with your mods. Very nice improvements. Getting sub 2.0 60' times with a 6MT and street tires is VERY difficult. It took me almost 60 passes to get consistent 1.85 60' on my 6MT with street tires. Very nice for your mods though. Keep at it.

I know some wont like my advice, but on nitto invos running 33-35psi in the rear, ive done as good as 1.76 and consistently run 1.79-1.83

I know im auto so its more consistent, but consider them along with what others will suggest Click here to enlarge

Thats a gr8 60ft time! I chose PS2 RFT over regular PS2's because I like the feeling of the sidewall stiffness RFT's have (I came from an E46 M3, which was stiff no matter what type of road)

Went back out there last night, it must have been a bring your diesel truck night as there were dodge's, ford's there running some really fast times. Some BMW guys where out there, E46 M3, E90 325i, E90 335i, F10 (?) 550i.

The 550i was stock (I tink), trapped 107.xxmph which I thought was really cool.

Track was prepped very well! I got some wheel hop on 2 runs launching at 4,000rpm, which were the most optimal, I even managed to get a 1.997 60ft on one run (6MT!) with PS2 RFT, but I botched that run by missing 3rd. That 60ft would never appear again in the night...

I'm not sure why, but my JB4 box has trouble hitting target and would only peak at 15.5psi, trapping at 108-109mph, even though it will reliably overshoot target .2psi (17.5psi max, targets 17.3) when I log on the streets (single gear runs though). After 3 runs, and a turbo Talon that continually spilled oil on the track making everyone wait 30-45 mins to run, I headed out to do out JB4 map 3 adaptation runs with an 80 additive to hit 20psi thinking that it'll at least hit 17psi on the track running between gears.

After a 30min cool down, that paid off:

    R/T - .067
    60' - 2.013
    330 - 5.962
    1/8 - 8.793
    MPH - 91.01
    1000 - 11.222
    1/4 - 12.612
    MPH - 113.74

That was my best time that night peaking at 18psi, but with an avg ignition correction value of 2.2. By the time 4th gear came about, the methanol injection system had a hard time keeping IAT's reasonable and timing only ramped up to 10 by the end of the run.

    I need an intercooler!

Member Ztuner (of Ztuner.com, who will soon be a protuner!!) of Bradenton was there, but with his 300zx.

Any advice to make the JB4 allow full boost? I have wastegate rattling, so maybe it's just my turbo's?
