nothing as of yet Click here to enlarge still waiting on pistons and my head which both are suposed to be in this month so car wont be running till after the holidays. head is supposed to be shipped to me next wedsday from getting extrode honed and cp told me the piston will be shipped out either the week before xmas or the few days their open after xmas before the new year
how did you get the pistons straight from CP?

    i got

"There is no part number for the pistons, it's not a shelving item for us. It is in stock at VAC Motorsports.

    Best Regards,

    Darius Tarman
    Sports Compact Manager"

or did you ship them one of yours for a custom build?

any reason youre going CP with stock compression instead of just getting a fresh OEM piston?

stock aren't forged, stock will be to small after boring the sleeve a little to fix the damage, its not a stock item its built to order and i think my shop ordered them threw VAC

i also see no reason to run lower compression unless your going with a big single with a lot of boost like some supra ppl i know

    S65 << N54...that'd be a great choice
The only thing the N54 is better at is fuel economy and breaking fuel pumps.

Turbo'd FRS/BRZ went 11.3 @ 127. Nothing like power to weight, but rumors abound with the motors ability to run boost. People are saying the 4 banger boxer has a tendancy to pop.

Damn thats respectable. The car hasnt been out long and they are already in the low 11s. Things are looking good. Hopefully they can reinforce and build the boxer to withstand more.

VAC sells to more companies than you think.. i would say at least 50% of stuff, at least on the east coast, comes through them.. not including overseas.

I dunno what im a do, @M3ntal 's car, and one just like it have me re-evaluating my options..

ahh fair enough, .. i thought the stock pistons WERE forged, but the rods weren't or something?

so you're getting all 6 pistons new i take it?

i HATE how VAC has a global monopoly on piston/rods for the N54, i wish i could get them from a local shop, it's sooo crap >_<

lower comp definitely has benefits on twins, even RB's (probably even stockers considering meth is used to max them out!).. just take a look at dzenno's dyno with just a thicker head gasket... low enough compression means you don't need meth to run high boost/advanced timing, or can push it WAY further either way.

the FA20 apparently actually has REALLY weak rods and oiling issues.. on top of the mass amount of ECU issues, idle issues.. it's a VERY poor reliability car... CH performance over here has a 211wkw turbo E85 kit, the owner has even said he's not a huge fan

also, why would you bother turboing it, void the warranty anyway... cheaper/same price to swap in an EJ from WRX/STI, same engine mounts, more power, more reliable, better aftermarket.. ad again, cheaper/same price...

Hmm didnt know the mounting position was the same. Guess that would be the way to go as far as power.

people had 2jz and 2ur's in there from week one.. and yeah they probably also had a fairly reasonable price tag (especialy for their output) lol... but with an EJ you get the whole low-CG benefit still of a boxer.

love the frs but im not a fan of the engine. i like its low center of gravity but wish it was more special with a higher rev limiter

these little turbos dont push enough air for me to want to run a lower compression. dont see a use for it unless your going with a big single doing like 35 lbs of boost.

some pictures. old engine laying on the floor and the other engine taken apart

Quick question, can DSS upgrade a broken rear axle or does the axle have to be in working condition?

Doesn't have either of these, smaller curve with lag, torque falls off hard, lower redline, worse heads, less displacement, needlessly complicated fuel system, less potential, etc. I can go on if you wish.
