can we get rid of the welcoming new members threads on the main page?

It seems like all the trolls/spambots and stuff are just flooding the forum..theres like 3 threads of usefulness on the front page, and the rest are 'we welcome, nooob, lets point and laugh at klsadp'ojnasdasdn'

What do you think sticky? I for one dont really care if a new member signs up unless its a vendor or something..

Personally I feel new members like being welcomed and having a section they can say hello.

Some accounts are spam but most aren't. We have a lot more registrations than we used to (like 4x more on average) so I can see how this is dominating the latest threads.

I'll see what I can do about making it so you can ignore forum sections of your choosing.

At least in the post, link their name to their profile so we can readily check them out. They should stop in an introduce themselves. Set up an automated welcome PM with a link to the post encouraging them to introduce themselves. ( that may be too much but you'll figure something out )

people may actually check out the thread and start a discussion instead of the whole section being a string of dead posts

I mentioned it a while back but that's still my 2 on it

An automatic welcome PM instructs member to introduce themselves in the new members forum.

What about keeping the welcome system the way it is, but removing the listings in the recent threads?

Good idea - frankly, all the troll/spambot user IDs and threads should just be deleted by an admin as soon as they're identified, if integrity of the content is paramount.

Please point me toward all the spam. When you try to make comments with veiled negative overtones please base them in reality. It's impossible to eliminate registration bots without significantly impacting the registration process. IMPOSSIBLE. But this forum is spammed the least of any auto forum I know of, care to tell me why since you think you know what you are talking about?

If I see multiple registrations from a single IP I block the IP. I don't delete the user ID's so they can' be re-used and also so the user id's can be added to the automatic spam database this forum uses to block spam and help other forums admins identify where spam is coming from. Your experience with forum administration clearly showing in your post.

Fair enough. But, you also like to cite how fast the germanboost membership base is growing - if you're not deleting fake/spammer IDs, do you at least subtract them out when calculating the forum's growth rate? If not, your user growth, post-per day growth, and total threads/posts data is all being overstated.

It isn't a claim it's a fact. There is more than one statistic to measure growth than number of members. Which by the way members that are NOT activated through e-mail activation don't count in the forum member list. Only thing being overstated here is your understanding of how this forum operates but you can continue being negative without knowing what you are talking about if you like.

Frankly, I'm not interested in your input on how to run a forum at all or how this one functions for that matter when forum growth is setting records this month:

Now kindly get back to the topic which is the amount of new members registering, record numbers, cluttering the forum feed of new posts. The topic isn't your constant negativity and attempt to drag down the results of 2 years of hard work that are starting to pay off.

    Welcome mPURE to this forum.
M3 info would be under S65 (engine code) or 3 series.

Well you are wrong, it's very useful and I like it. All that needs to be done is the ability to exclude forums from the listing.

Where are all these spam bots? Do you know what account is or isn't? Do you have access to the spam filter employed?

Why don't you let me run my forum, thanks. I like the new members section and the fact we have an area to welcome people before people like yourself crap all over them. It's also a great way for people to get the early rep so they can post rep and post links, reasons why we don't have spam.

Thanks again for your constructive help.
