Not sure if they ever got it running; but it is very inspiring. Maybe someday, someone else will build a setup like this. Click here to enlarge

Dated pic, it was a project from VIP Tuning back in '08

Here's the thread about the top mount turbo project: http://www.n54tech.com/forums/showthread.php?t=962

Here's the thread about why it never materialized: http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=146709 (short version, owner was a crook & liar)

i feel like this setup in particular would be fairly easy to do log stile manifold to the turbo downpip would run right next to it and then that turbo looks like it has a clean shot to the intercooler

Yes, a dual log setup would probably be the easiest with quick spool.

However, a longer tube 3-2-1 setup would flow better (and will definitely fit), but not as easy.

Feel like once the single turbo conversion for the N54 becomes a little more common/less expensive & the tuning is nailed down (aka, doesn't require firehose meth flow), a top mount turbo kit would be built as long as there's enough demand

This was done a long time ago. It was floating around a few forums and later when the single turbos came out I leaked a pic of AR designs single after they prematurely announced it with no pics.http://bimmerboost.com/showthread.ph...t=single+turbo
