Thumbs up N54 exhaust flange CAD/CAM drawing?

Does anyone know where I might be able to find one?

I need to laser cut an exhaust flange for my engine so I can weld up a single turbo manifold to replace my twins. I'd rather not tear the motor apart to take measurements right now. If anyone can help it would be appreciated, thanks!

I think someone post one of these about a month ago in August or so?

@stealtth try searching and see, I believe it had something to do with exhaust..

I know who helped one of the vendors out but he may charge for it.

I would like a copy as well. I like playing in CAD and would love to mock up a sequential turbo manifold even if it will never ever fit.

Shouldn't @Mat Morkin have one? Not sure if he is willing to give it up though.

I found the thread where he posted pictures, maybe I'll see if I can pay for a copy. Otherwise I'll try to find a blown stock turbo to borrow for measurements.

No...its not something I can share. Unless @DBIFU needs something, than he's got my hook up pass.

I cannot post that information freely because it was not free. I will do "do diligence" for anyone who is willing to go through the same process as my other customers. I enjoy hooking you guys up, but that is precious information.

I did quite a bit of searching on different forums yesterday and haven't come up with anything. So I'm going to attempt to make one from scratch. As soon as the laser cutter is ready for production I'll get something cut out of cheap material to test-fit. After I've got a set of flanges that fit I'll throw the file on my web site for you guys. It won't include the sections of tube that extend into the head though, so that'll have to be welded in similar to some of the other manifolds out there.

Once all the tuning is figured out I think it'd be great to see a bunch of custom twin and single kits come to life.

If anyone happens to live in Northeast Wisconsin and has a turbo not attached to a car, I'd throw you a couple of bucks to borrow it for an hour to take measurements. Otherwise I'll pull one off my car next weekend.

How about an actual oem Boysen flange? I can send to you. It was cut off of the turbofold, but you will need to increase thickness to your liking (3/8" or so I would say), as the stock flanges are very thin. Not as easy as just loading a file, but you will be able to get perfect oem dimensions from it.

Also, Sikky sells just the cnc'd stainless flanges. They are about $200 a pop, though.

The issue with taking measurements off the flanges is there is not a good reference point in which to measure from, couple that with the bulkiness of the manifold and turbine housing, and becomes difficult. If you had the flange separated from the manifold than you could put it in a 90 degree fixture and use the sides of the fixture as a reference point. I did Vargus' flange with a FARO Arm (truthfully, I helped...I am being trained in that technology), and it should be perfect. I am not trying to sound like a jack-A$$ but I am a professional "reverse engineer" and I could not just measure it out with a set of calipers. The top holes share the same plane, but the left and right side are not mirror images, the left and right side are at a positive angles. I think Shiv simplified his a bit from pictures I have seen, and that's a good idea. All that to say, it is something that has to be accurate, and if you can do it without a FARO than major props to you.

I would agree if you were going to take measurements and try to post a pic on here. It would be extremely difficult to get right. But, I actually have a friend that has a FARO Click here to enlarge Pretty sweet machine. I believe he used it when developing intake manifolds for the 1G, 2G DSM's and EVO's

i was able to get the intake manifold flange pretty much dead nuts using a reference point on the flange itself and a massive dial caliper. That did not work for the turbofold. FARO ftw.

I'd be very interested in that. A friends company is in the process of Assembling An Amada laser cutter, so even ifbthe dimensions are a bit off at first I think we will have plenty of time to mess around and get it right. Im on a phone right now but ill msg you once im near a computer again...
