This would be awesome info to have.

My question is what were the two modes you used to observe timing? You observed timing with the Megasquirt and also observed it with the stock ECU, I'm thinking?

Was the stock ECU still controlling timing? I thought the Megasquirt takes care of spark. Or were you just using the ECU to observe spark? How did you do that?

    Thanks.

Checked in with my tuner who observed the timing drift and he reports plus/minus 4 degrees on one unit and a 4 degree retard/6 degree advance on a 60-2 on a Porche.

Timing drift was measured by setting a constant timing advance at low load over a wide rev band, connecting a timing light, sweeping revs through the full range, and observing the deviation from commanded advance.

He also reports that fuel compensation didn't work very well.

As others have posted, many engines are running on this system with good success. I'm just passing on info I've run across to help anyone planning to use Megasquirt minimize their chance of detonation.

    Cheers,
    Dan

Thanks for the info. Very interesting and much appreciated.

I am honestly a little suprised by this fact. Megasquirt has been notorious for being spot on when it comes to ignition and fuel control, from my experience. Maybe it's different on inline 6's or BMW engines due to other factors.
