Pushing the limits of the S65

What is the max power made of S65?

I have not seen any turbo S65. I do plan on working S65, twin turbocharging.

    Any sleeved/supercharged S65 blocks?

After sleeving what will be the wall thickness between adjacent cylinders?

What was the max engine speed of "built" S65? revving 9500?

Trying to collect data, trying to learn weaknesses before I start the project.

There is a South African company I believe who worked on a turbo S65. Forgot the name of it. Maybe somebody can chime in and you can give them a call to get more info.

    Yes.

It depends on the bore but there isn't much material to work with.

Really no point revving it that high without changing the cam profile.

Nobody has pushed the S54 to its limit technically either.

As far as who is pushing it the farthest, that would be me for now.

What is a limit.. sometimes that simply depends on how long you want the car to last.. I think 800rwhp on the S54 is its reliability limit.. sure some have reached 1000rwhp.. but ultimately I think the S54 is pretty reliable when built to 800rwhp.

I'm excited to see what the S65 can do when turbo'd...

Most engines who weren't designed for boost will eventually fail if not built properly. Whether it can handle 600+rwhp or not, it will go.

My point would be exactly that, what is the limit really?

The S65 taken to its limit will require some big ass turbos and being put in another car with room for them.

I think the S54 is the better big power platform, at least for now and the foreseeable future.

    Sticky,

I wonder about the v10 gallardo engines. They are aluminium, like the V10 M5 engine.
Gallardo engines are built so strong that they make 1750 whp.

I have not seen gallardo and M5 V10 engine with my eyes so I cannot comment. I just seek for opinions.

Seems theres so little information on the Gallardo engines.. how hard are the owners on them (the twin turbo'd ones).. have any let go.. have they found any issues and corrected/reinforced them.. etc.. 1750whp on a 6.x litre motor is roughly the same hp per litre as the s54 is holding.. so in theory I would think a S65 could hold 1000rwhp fine (granted there may be other issues like oiling, etc).. but in theory I think 1000rwhp should be obtainable on an S65 with turbo(s).

Yes but they have larger bore spacing so more material to work with.

In theory the S85 and S65 should be just as capable.

from the vids, tests, airfield speed tests, russian road tests, we can see that "built" gallardo engines are strong.
    how strong is not known.

I am leaning towards making more power out of my S54s as the alu S65 block is freightening me.

VS-Motors already built a twin turbo in 2010.
