Acquired BOOST! - ESS VT2-625 M3 supercharger kit

Late 08 Build - would you? Click here to enlargeClick here to enlarge ESS 625.

Plan on doing on oil analysis on the bearing wear before installation. So tempting to install ASAP but the bearing rewards not so much!

Who will do your oil analysis?

What will you do if it shows bearing wear?

Somewhat surprised you went with ESS and not a Gintani kit due to your experience but you are good either way.

    Congrats!

And just leave the car NA or attempt to get new/aftermarket bearings? What about upgraded oil pumps?

Understandable, you going to do any tuning on it yourself?

Ricky is selling the car and going with a vette i believe.

He is a bit ocd, claimed there was a noise in the motor but the dealer found nothing, oil analysis was perfect. So hes enjoying a completley stock car for the time being before he sells it.

Definitely keep us posted on what Blackstone Labs has done. A couple of my friends are doing the rod bearings on his E46 M3 because of quite a bit of junk in their oil, thanks to analysis by Blackstone.

Hopefully it all works out well and you can throw it on your NA beast!

I hope it works out too. It's been on the back burner since I got a winter beater N54. Making 420 / 480 on the corn and having tons of fun! I went to drive the M3 last night and the tires were flat!

Alright back from SEMA and all the pre-requisite work is almost done. Oil analysis / comp test / leak down. Have to install new plugs as well. Then the kit goes on. Hopefully it won't snow so I can enjoy it. Once that's shaken down and sorted on 93, will test on E85 as well Click here to enlarge

Should have stayed in Vegas until the East Coast is cleaned up a little. Should have partied with me as well.

Definitely looking forward to this. Especially what you end up doing with the tuning.

Will you be doing your own tuning or having ESS do it?

    Best of luck!

335xi is almost done - so I finally got around to this car. Convienently it just started snowing today!

Blackstone Labs came back favorable and normal for an M3 oil test according to the tech - so we are installing the full 625 kit, 2 new primary 02s and plugs, and hopefully if nothing is missing a little E85 testing by the end of the week.

They said to watch the oil pressure, why is that?

    Not concerned about the lead?

Oil pressure problems can do with bearing issues. I explained the whole bearing fear mongering to the tech about the S65 so his comments were well watch the oil pressure. How many M3 owners have oil pressure gauges in there car? Can problem count on one hand. Oil pressure problems are very common on our Subaru builds.

Doing some independent research on our "bearing problems" it seems most bad cars STILL won't see issues into the mid to upper 100k based on wear of disassembled motors at "50k" miles.

A little extra lead shows that our cars do wear a bit more then others on the bottom end. Car has 26,000 miles on it. When speaking on the phone with the lab tech he said it's a great sample for a car that has been driven "well."
