As opposed to what? Please name a car in the same category that is better. It's a chassis with a lot of potential, you know the M3 shares the chassis right? And an engine bay that you can cram damn near anything into.

Are you serious? I'm not here to argue but a e46 m3 chassis, e36 m3 chassis and e9x m3 chassis is way better. Our stock 335 is sloppy in comparison, you have to do many things to the suspension to even get close and it still won't handle like the m3. If your doing a motor swap, you tend to look for a wrecked car or one with a blown engine you can get for cheap. I'm just saying if I was going to pay for a motor swap I'd find a high mileage m3 and get it done.... Go swap a engine in your 335 if you want, I don't care ha

Because a Genesis Coupe with a 2JZ, just burning up tires & super loud turbo spool is going to be "undercover" lol

Do you read? You do understand you can modify the chassis right? There's a whole lot less of a difference between an E92 335i and a E92 M3 vs a E46 330ci and a E46 M3. The 335i might be sloppy in comparison (but still pretty good), but people actually do suspension mods to the 335i. In fact most of the M3 parts bolt right on. It's not THAT much work; it really isn't. You're deluding yourself if you think 'it magically just won't handle like an M3'. Maybe for the E46 or E36 chassis where there's a ton of chassis stiffening and other stuff going on making it hard to replicate. But there's nothing magical going on with the M3 that makes it unattainably better. Click here to enlarge

When doing a motor swap, the normal M.O. is up in the air. You might only consider a super cheap one or a wrecked car; I'd find one with a blown motor. Considering you can get a well running E92 for under $20k these days, one with a blown engine would be substantially cheaper.

I've got Vargas Stage 3s going on my 335i. I was just curious about it.

And you still didn't answer my question. Please name a car in the 335i category that is better. I'm talking contemporaries and same target market. The M3 ramblings don't count as inaccurate as they were.

If you're wanting to go fast for cheap, nothing beats a junkyard LY2 with an LS6 cam/intake mani plus an ebay GT45 turbo kit. Can make > 800whp without even cracking the heads open. That's not very undercover though Click here to enlarge

This is all aside from the fact that a 335i owner could probably sell their drivetrain as a substantial downpayment on a ProEFI'd 2JZ swap. Hell even the rear-end gearing of the 335i would mesh well with the V160 transmission (the Toyotas run a 3.13) Click here to enlarge

Boss 302/Shelby GT500 (with Bilstein adjustable shocks), Camaro ZL1/Z28 (both will have the magnetic suspension), both are domestic cars and they have a completely different identity when compared to the 335 (significantly less refined, more track-focused cars), but that's as close you're going to get. There's def nothing from Mercedes comparably priced (C63 AMG BS), Audi (RS4 still over priced) or S4/S5 (under powered, getting closer but AWD ≠ RWD), Infiniti (G37 ISF = $#@!) & Dodge (Challenger SRT8 handling = Click here to enlarge)

As I said I'm not going to argue with you, and yes I can read...maybe I wasnt clear, I named the wrecked e9x chassis, e36, and e46 m3 because I categorized my decision making based on price, at or below $20k like you did in your post. Everyone knows the 335 is the best car in it's class, that's why I own one, but for a project car that i planned on dropping a ls motor in, at the same cost as a used 335, starting from scratch ($20k in my hand) I wouldn't pick the 335. I'd pick a e36, salvaged e9x m3, or e46 m3 bc there would be minimal chassis mods need to make it a well rounded car.

I noticed on e90post in your sig it says you also have a 370z. How do you like the handleing on that, and how does it compare to an e90/e92 with the sports package. Always liked the looks of those cars, and they sound great too!

Will need a standalone that can handle the CAN communications to the 8 speed trans =) By the time, someone it's done... car will be a relic! It would have been easier if it was a 6 speed manual or get another car that's more tuner friendly Click here to enlarge
