    Our ProEFI N54

    Hey Guys,

We are currently in the works of finishing up our N54, currently it still has stock turbo's and is running ProEFI and a ProEFI fuel system.

The thread will be continued with daily updates on October 5th with pictures and videos!

    Thanks!
    Angie

Can you provide more info on your changes to the fuel system? Are you running 6 P/H injectors in place of the factory DI units and another 6 P/I units in the manifold?

Definitely need for details on this. No matter what it is, its a huge step in the right direction for this platform. In for updates!

EDIT: Just read the details in the picture. Automatically adjusts to fuel ethanol content. Awesome!

The description in the picture I believe speaks to the general abilities of the ECU, and may not be what was specifically used in the n54/n55 applications. Hopefully details are given sooner rather than later on our specific platform.

If the ProEFI fueling system + Vargas Stage 3s are legit, get ready to run Straight E85 --- N54 is about to become the Euro 2JZ

I'm trying to remain unskeptical, but if they are doing away with Direct injection to run PROEfi we arent really making any progress. Tuning the direct injection system is key. In other words, if this is going to Port injection - we would literally be better off swaping in a 2JZ.

I run Proefi in my turbo e46 m3 and this feature of the system is so sweet!! So nice not to have to worry about running the car out of fuel to switch maps between e85 or pump, or running out of e85 and not being near another e85 supplier. Just fill it up with whatever is at hand and it will automatically compensate. Plus, it will tell you exactly what percentage ethanol you are running on the can display. Pretty sweet stuff!

That was our thought since the introduction of the platform at the Philly Auto Show when we first saw this engine.

Wait wait wait...if this is discarding the DI system and replacing it with port FI, I retract my previous motherofgod.jpg. I was excited for a standalone system which ran our DI and gave PI as an option as well. Frankly, a standalone is exciting because one could run a bigger LPFP and control the pressure sensor to really give the HPFP system a boost.

The manifold is sheet metal. velocity stack, tapered runner, factory TB location with 6 P/H injectors. Next week, we will decide whether we are going to utilize the DI injectors in conjunction with the port fuel injection. Although some people are already doing some E85 testing with factory injectors, we are not convinced that the fuel pumps will survive. E85 being 33% lighter than Gasoline gives us reason for concern, however with ProEFI knowing how much fuel the DI injectors are injecting we can easily make the mathematical calculation in the background to determine what ethanol % is being injected in our secondary fuel system. The factory injectors may just continue running pump gas at no more than factory level.

We cannot release all of our information. There has been MANY attempts for a solution for this platform. We have it!

Stay tuned.... We will be traveling 2300 Miles next Thursday to the ProEFI headquarters to finish our shop car. I promise there will be DAILY if not HOURLY updates beginning then.

    Thanks guys!!

We will be using port in conjunction with DI and we will have full control of the DI injectors. The port injectors will come on at pre-determined boost, rpm or load.

I don't mind getting rid of the DI in exchange for easier tuning and more horsepower. I'm tried of having the slowest car in my club.

Does PROefi have the logic to incorporate the pre-detonation sensing abilities of the piezo tipped OEM direct injection units?

This should alleviate the need for 103841057130957 meth nozzles to make decent power.

Was gonna say, if we ditch DI, don't we lose all the benefits of E85 (increased octane rating, cooling effects during combustion)??? The fact that you need to pump ~130% more compared to regular, petroleum-based gasoline is a headache, but higher flow injectors & fuel pumps should be able to address that once they're combined with a proper tune that can account for increased fueling needs.
