    Buying a 335i

Not sure if this is posted in the right section. Mods, if its not feel free to move. Sorry in advance.

Recently I found a 2008 BMW 335i Coupe. I started emailing the dealer and got the final number for the car.

    The Car:

    Transmission: Manual
    Exterior Color: Jet Black
    Interior Color: Black Leather
    Mileage: 45000ish
    Packages: Sports, Premium, Cold weather

    My Car:

    Transmission: Automatic
    Exterior Color: Jet Black
    Interior Color: Beige Leather
    Mileage: 53000ish
Packages: Premium, Some cold weather options
So my question is does $9000 on top of my 07 328i sound like a good deal for this car?? Click here to enlarge

That sounds kind of expensive, but not sure of your 328's miles, condition, options...

What's the price of the car? 28k-29k and below. I think is reasonable for that mileage.

CPO? I bought a CPO 6MT Sport 07 e90 a year ago for $24k, private sale. Same miles and in really nice condition. Seems like you might be able to knock them down a bit.

No CPO. The area around me for a CPO charges closer to $27+. It from a Dealer that sells mainly BMW but isnt a BMW dealership.

Can you have a BMW pull the service records? Might want to see if the wastegates or turbos have ever been replaced.

I think 24k is a very good price. A bummer is not CPO, since these cars suffer from a bunch of little issues around that mileage. 9K on top of your 328 seems a bit too much if you ask me. That means they are only taking your car for what? 15k? I think they can give you more for it. I sold my 08 e90 335i with 77k miles to a dealer for 19k. Kinda low if you ask me, but they just wouldn't go any further.

Yes I can. I know techs that can run the records for me. I do believe BMW has warranties out for both those issues.

I have another option which is at BMW and they are only offering me $14,800 for my car. So anything over that is a plus. Its more then $15k since the $9000 on top includes NJ sales tax, title, and fees.

Have you tried seeing how much Carmax will give you? 14800 is just too low IMO.

The issue is that the nearest CarMax is 2 hours away from me.

*Just looked at there site and most cars with similar info as mine they are selling for around 20-22. So I think that I might make the trip out there and get a quote sometime this week.

For $15k or a little more, hell I'd buy your car and turn around and sell it higher. Definitely try to get a higher number for your car.

I actually drove up to white plains ny to buy my 335. The local dealers in south jersey were all 5k higher at the time and mine was a cpo. It's worth the two hour drive if you can save 3-5k.

That sounds a bit expensive in my opinion. For a one year newer car with about the same mileage - they are "charging" you 9k. It sounds like they are similar cars - except for the drivetrain of course.

For that price - without CPO, I would say no - but that's just me.

    Hope that helps.

Haha alright, just let me know when the next KOP meet actually is since I don't check E90Post that much anymore (or ask Dan for my number & txt me). I'll just make sure to have some E85 in the tank so we can run the tire shredding map.

And like everyone's already said, if you have to make a hike to save another 4-5k, DO IT. That's money back in your pocket that you can spend to go straight to FBO with all quality parts (which you'll want to do once you slap a tune on). Shopping for cars in NJ/Philly/NYC area is awful because we experience "East Coast Inflation" on pricing on all the nicer cars (BMWs, Merc's, Audis, etc etc).
