Thumbs up PTF S1+ E50 FTW!

    Hey enthusiasts,

I just wanted to share my Dyno results for PTF Pro Tune COBB S1+ E50 (50% Ethanol).

    2007 E92, current @ 51k miles.

Max Run at 367 whp @ 394 tq.
    130 whp @ 133 tq Delta!

Special thanks to Dzenno at Pro Tuning Freaks for an outstanding job and getting the MAP versions revised and returned quickly. Jake and Dzenno @ Pro Tuning Freaks are great to work with and would recommend them highly.

These results were based upon many factors, thus numbers can vary depending on Dyno type, mods, tune, gas, etc. You get the idea.

I began this endeavor mid February 2012, where I completed a fully stock Baseline Dyno run.

A Dyno Dynamics aka Heartbreaker Dyno was used. This Dyno uses SAE corrections, thus the read out are lower than other Dynos. But the important part! Are the delta’s! Click here to enlarge

    Baseline Run:

    Max 231 whp @ 257 tq

    4th gear AT (DS Mode)
    +- 60 deg Outside Air
    Hood up
    +- 5-8 min. between runs
    42,500 miles

Since my goal is to keep stock DP’s until warranty and 1st SMOG is up, I decided to get maximum power with COBB S1+ in the meantime.

March through August Mods: ( took longer than expected Click here to enlarge )

    Spark Plugs under maintenance
    Walnut Shell Blasting
    CPE DCI
    COBB Tune
    ETS FMIC
    ER CP w/ TiAL BOV

Now of course, the fun part. After dialing in the Pro Tune I took it back to the Dyno shop.

    PTF S1+ E50 Dyno Runs

    Run 5 Blue 367 whp @ 394 tq
    Run 9 Red 360 whp @ 390 tq
    Run 10 Pink 362 whp @ 397 tq
    Green Baseline

    4th gear AT (Manual Mode)
    +- 77 deg Outside Air
    Hood up
    +- 5-8 min. between runs
    51,500 miles

    A Delta of 130+ whp @ 133+ tq.

Fuel blends @ 8.5 gallons of E85 with 7.5 gallons of ACN 91.

Overall I am very satisfied with these results Click here to enlarge and it shows that there is power to be made with a Stage 1+ 335i. Granted the fact with Stock DP’s, ACN 91 and we didn’t push the limits, there is still more ponies to be made.

    Thanks,

    Vince..

As promised below are my DynoJet Numbers.

    Max Run:
    415whp @ 443wtq

    Baseline:
    291whp @ 296wtq

Keep in mind, this baseline is COBB MAP 0, with current MODs and E50.

    Delta of:
    124whp @ 147wtq

Not to be a glorified Dyno Queen, I feel there is still room for improvement on these runs. The tech had some difficulty with WOT and we didn't hit WOT till 4800 RPM. I didn't reach max boost or timing, but anyway it is what it is, these are just numbers.

$20 a run was beginning to be an expensive learning curve for Mr. Tech. not used to AT. Click here to enlarge. But overall I was very happy with with MCE Racing, they are good and knowledgeable people.

As you can see; 48 whp @ 48 wtq difference between the Dyno Dynamic vs. DynoJet. Either way the car feels the same no matter what Dyno I use. But for bragging rights, I'll say i have a 400 whp car. Click here to enlarge Click here to enlarge

    thanks again @dzenno@ProTUNING Freaks

Good stuff man. That dyno with SAE correction reads about 17.5% lower than an average Dynojet in STD correction.

On a Dynojet this run would've gotten you 444whp/478wtq STD Click here to enlarge for stock downpipes and stock exhaust, boost capped down a bit and NO meth, I like it! Click here to enlarge

Impressive numbers for not being FBO. I will be going E50 within the next month. I guess E85 isn't overrated after all as per turkeyfucker.

Hey thanks, yeah it was my goal.from the beginning to see what the car really got. Since the run wasn't ideal, I am still going to wonder if there were more ponies to be shown. But 50 delta between the two Dynos, that is pretty dramtic, more than I thought. And the consistency of the delta's between both Dynos, leads me to believe they are accurate. I'll pick the higher one. Click here to enlarge

Hey @VNeBLOB42 , got your datalogs. I was shocked to see they wouldn't get the fan going on the dyno and were letting the car hit 150-180F IATs in your dyno logs Click here to enlarge Last run when they turned the fan on they went down but still hovered up in the 115-120F range. As you said they were also going WOT at just 4800rpm too so that would've impacted peak torque/boost down lower. Oh well it is what it is. They need to learn how to feel off the kickdown switch Click here to enlarge

As for your numbers there's considerably more torque (conservatively about 30-35wtq) on the table down low and a bit more peak whp (maybe another 5-10whp) with your current stock downpipes and stock exhaust if they manage a clean pull like on the Dyno Dynamics

Opening those two up and without any retuning you'd probably yield another 15-20whp more on top. In the STG1+ E50 map, due to stock downpipes and exhaust, we kept your boost about 1.5-2psi lower than what we run for FBO catless setups on E50 so that's also on the table for whenever.

Cheers, enjoy! Click here to enlarge
