    Whistle/rumble after DP/FMIC/Intake install

The car feels strong (on 4.02 Cobb AP 2+ maps), but there is a pronounced whistle, and at <1000 rpms it is vibrating significantly (like I feel it in my seat and the dash is creaking). Mr.5 intake, FMIC, and DP were just done, didn't get to log it yet but I read codes when I got home and didn't see anything. I am running the BMS DP Fix too if that matters. This doesn't feel normal at all - there is no noise like DPs are hitting anything, just a lot of vibration, and the whistling is beyond turbo whine (it's present even at 1500 rpm, accel and decel). I do have Forge DVs on (been on for months) with yellow springs.

Any thoughts? I'll run it hard tonight and get some logs.

Downpipes are touching the frame or each other. They may need to be readjusted. The intake is supposed to make whistling noises. Enjoy it!

Take a video of the whistling if you think it's abnormal.

Cool - the whistling doesn't bother me nearly as much as the vibration, but one reason I got the Mr.5 instead of DCI is that I had a DCI previously and it was too loud, I heard the Mr.5 was very quiet... But once the DP issue is resolved, that whistling will drive me mad Click here to enlarge. But I can take that back to stock if I have to...I was afraid it was a leak in FMIC or DP...but with no codes, it seemed unlikely. Anyway, I'll log it and video it tonight.

    THanks!

There are 2 points the pipes tend to touch. The rear pipe likes to touch the subframe as it comes down and heads aft. I'd check that spot first. Also where the pipes pass the closest to the engine block. Good luck.

Logging wasn't cooperating tonight...odd...setup default logging, pressed OK to start data logging on cobb, just displayed WGDC and no log (well, a log was created but it was empty). I'll try again tomorrow. Regardless, it's pulling HARD, no codes again, and the DP install will get tweaked tomorrow too. Thanks all.

I have Mr5 intake, and i have very very slight whistle occasionally to nothing at all. Do you have a drop in too or are you using OEM filter? Maybe if you have the OEM then most of the air sucked is through the intake you have added thus the whistle.
The slight whistle i sometimes get is at spool at low rpms, and then fades as i pick up speed and becomes harder for me to actually hear it.

Last night I ran it hard, it definitely has power and isn't throwing codes - feels just as strong as my old JB4/Meth car. Rolling start in 2nd breaks loose a bit (and I have a LSD & PSS), 3rd chirps, and then we're at scary speeds before you know it Click here to enlarge.

But the car vibrates like I'm in sharper images massage chair, dash creaking...kinda fun, feels like I have a big lopey cam'd v8 Click here to enlarge. They're working on it right now.
The Mr. 5 is using a stock filter for now, I'll get a drop-in to replace that ASAP - thanks for mentioning that. My whistle is small, primarily at low speeds like you're saying. At higher speeds, I don't notice it almost at all, but I do a lot of city driving so it's pretty annoying...

Shop adjusted DPs, they were hitting the subframe in one spot and now it hums like stock. VRSF DPs have a nice subtle sound (and I'm definitely one for sleepers, I don't want anything to disturb my wife from driving the car or encourage civics to race me), and I'll be playing with the Mr. 5's to tone down the whistle. Thanks for the info last night, it was quite disturbing to feel the massive amount of vibration Click here to enlarge.

Glad it's resolved, thanks for the update. Relatively simple.
