@themyst -- The suns coming out by me, so if the road gets dried up I might be able to take those logs later today/tonight & send them over to you. I'll try to get 2-3 logs for you with the parameters you asked for

As you guys know I have the same flat line timing isues.
I thought I would put the stock OEM map in the car and see if I still have the flat liing issues and it seems so.
Check out these logs - 93oct only ** NO Meth or E85** This is a 3rd gear pull paddle shifting into 4th then 5th real quick

I think I will try and pull timing this afternoon in the load areas after the shift and see what happens

@benzy89 you have the same issue I think everyone has, which is flatlining timing on all 6 cylinders with no corrections going into 5th gear.

I have a feeling the 4th gear flatline can be tuned out, but the 5th gear one cannot.

That's great information. The delta in timing between gears isn't much different than that in the 402 maps. Looks more and more like it is hard coded into the ECU to do this. That is, it is nearly unfathomable to believe that BMW didn't know about this, so I'd figure it is there on purpose.

Perhaps ATP can turn this "feature" off while ATR can't? It would be nice to get an opinion from Cobb.

Funny, my car while stock doesn't do this. Could be something related to map 0 maybe as the AP is still installed?

Josh - what are your initial thoughts as to what is causing this?
Also, does ATP have access to more tables then ATR..?

Here's some info that I am willing to share with you guys. I wish other tuners/protuners lurking around would also sometimes contribute something to this community.

There are two distinct issues happening here. One is a knock event that happens post shift usually on the 3-4 gear change and this is what you see there. Some cylinders will correct multiple times (e.g. first to -6*, then to -10.x then to -12* very quickly post shift and then slowly start to come back never really coming back entirely for the duration of that gear).

The other issue is on the 4-5 shift the timing will go from target say 12* down to -1.5 on all 6 cylinders without corrections. This isn't knock related.

Both of these issues cannot be fixed with piggybacks due to their nature. They can only be fixed through tuning in the DME due to cause and effect. On the piggybacks it is also impossible to understand the above is happening as timing and more importantly timing corrections aren't available through datalogging.

On most cars we've encountered we've either entirely eliminated issues or substantially reduced them through tuning. I'm sorry I can't say more than that as the fix really isn't like an on/off switch where you can just plug something in and its fixed. It requires considerable datalogging and iterations of maps, in other words custom tuning for the car, to be fixed or largely minimized.

I've relayed any/all findings to Josh whom we're in touch regularly whenever we encounter anything worth ATP/ATR/N54 discussion. If they were closer we'd have some beers and wings too but it is what it is Click here to enlarge They are absolutely amazing peeps at Cobb and a pleasure to work with. I'm sure they'll do their best to sort out anything that is possible on this platform but things don't happen overnight unfortunately.

I think it was forwarded to me, but I've been on the dyno most of the week. I'll check on Monday and PM you if it was missed.

BTW, Dzenno we will definitely grab some wings and drinks if you ever make it down to Texas.Click here to enlarge
